Obituary
Ret. Major, Coles, Gerald (Jerry) Albert Sr., went home to the Father on April 14, 2013 Born October 24, 1930, in Camden N.J. and raised in Valley Stream, Long Island, N.Y., he was one of four boys born to Joseph and Elizabeth Coles. He married the love of his life, Antoinette (Tosh) Lepak in 1954. Jerry served our country for 20 years in the United States Air Force as a pilot. He loved flying and saw active duty in the n the Vietnam War. He earned his B.S. from the University of Maryland while in the service and earned an M.S. in Accounting from Midwestern State University in Wichita Falls, TX where he and Tosh settled after he retired from flying. He worked as Controller for several companies in Wichita Falls and then moved to Little Rock, AR where he worked as a Controller and an instructor. Jerry and Tosh “retired” near Pinnacle Mountain, AR where they ran their antique business and devoted much of their time to service at Christ the King Catholic Church. He was preceded in death by his parents and his brothers, Joseph Coles and John Coles. Jerry is survived by his best friend and devoted wife of 58 years, Tosh; his brother Walter Coles; five children: Elizabeth Coles, Mary Coles, Maggie Metzinger, Gerald Coles, Jr., and Christa Cooper; three sons-in-law: Tom Dwyer, Mike Metzinger and Ken Cooper, one daughter-in-law, Babette Coles, and twelve grandchildren: Courtney Osborne, Rita Metzinger, Michael Metzinger, Tosha Cooper, Ruth Osborne, Arlie Coles, Emily Cooper, Ian Metzinger, Cole Cooper, David Dwyer, Brady Dwyer and Daniel Dwyer. Jerry was an outstanding model of Christ’s love and compassion and he will be remembered for his steadfast faith, strength of character and love of family. The Rosary will be held at 7 p.m. on Tuesday April 16, 2013 at St. Rita Catholic Church. The funeral Mass will be at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday April 17, 2013 also at St. Rita. Interment to follow at Restland Memorial Park in Dallas. I am sorry to have lost touch with y’all.One of my favorite times was with Uncle Jerry doing the tile floor in WF while I was at OU. You are all in my thoughts. Maybe get together with those of you around DFW. I am between Fort Worth and Granbury. Peace be with you.
