Bandy, Sr., William P.
Obituary
Bandy, William Peterson (Bill) William Peterson (Bill) Bandy passed into the arms of his Heavenly Father on Saturday, April 13, 2013 after a brief illness. Born February 19, 1928, he graduated from Dallas’ Sunset High School and then spent many years on the road in medical supply sales. In 1980, Bill started United Medical Supply, which became one of the largest independent medical supply companies in the Southwest. After selling the company in 2001, he dedicated his life crusading for health care reform. As his son would later say, “He fought to keep the world honest. And for this he received nothing but the satisfaction of doing what is right.” Bill loved jazz music, boating on Lake Texoma, laughing over the foibles of politicians, and spending time with his family. He was a loving father and grandfather who always had time to help others with challenges in their lives. He loved the movie Cyrano de Bergerac, and took inspiration from the scene in which Cyrano is described as a man “not bought by greed, nor bound by compromise.” Bill is survived by daughter Cyndy Severson, son Bill Bandy and wife Susan, daughter Shannon Hollandsworth and husband Skip, and granddaughters: Meryn Shannon and husband Jonathan, Kendra Harmon and husband Braden, Hailey Nicholson and husband Parker, and Tyler Hollandsworth. The family would like to thank the wonderful doctors and nurses at Baylor Medical Center, Plano who gave our dad such loving care during his last days. A celebration of Bill’s life will be held at Shipp Chapel at Lovers Lane United Methodist Church on Monday, April 22 at 10:00 am.
