Hassler, Bette Luverne
Obituary
Bette Luverne Hassler was born on March 3, 1929, in Minneapolis, Minnesota, the only child of Reynold and Lydia Nelson. She grew up in Minneapolis and graduated from Marshall High in 1947. After graduation, she met Earl Hassler at a dance and they married on June 7, 1952. They lived in Minnesota for a short time, and then moved to California, where they became parents to two daughters, Linda and Kristine. Bette was a dedicated stay-at-home mother, and an active member for 49 years at Christ Lutheran Church in West Covina, where she taught Sunday school. In 2005 she moved to Plano, Texas to be closer to her daughters and became a member of Christ Lutheran Church in Dallas. Bette enjoyed traveling, and spending time with her family and friends. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend to many. Even in her declining health she was giving and loving and blessed everyone with her wit and humor to the very end. She will be greatly missed. Bette is survived by her daughters, Linda Palafox and Kristine Gannaway, son-in-law, Robert Gannaway, grandchildren, Daniel Palafox, Robert Gannaway Jr., and Jason Gannaway, and great-grandchildren, Madelynn and Gage Gannaway. She was preceded in death by her husband, Earl Hassler, and her parents, Reynold and Lydia Nelson. A graveside service to celebrate the life of Bette Hassler will be held at Rose Hills Memorial Park at 3888 Workman Mill Rd, Whittier, California, 90601 on August 18, 2017 at 2:00 P.M.
