Gonzales, Edgar "Ed" C.
Obituary
Edgar (Ed) Gonzales , age 67, lost his courageous battle with pancreatic cancer on Sunday, 12/31/17 with his family by his side. Ed was born on April 25, 1950 in the Chicago area and lived briefly overseas and in Southern California- however he always considered Arizona “home”. He was an Arizona Cardinals and Diamondbacks fan, loved music and muscle cars, and enjoyed playing competitive darts and nurturing his ever-growing fountain pen collection. Ed was the consummate trivia whiz, and was a frequently consulted resource for family and friends for questions on everything from music to military conflicts. He was a patriot and loved and appreciated our country’s military heroes. Ed was the eldest of seven children and is preceded in death by his parents Edgar Sr. and Ruth Gonzales. He is survived by his wife of nearly 30 years Marianne and daughter Samantha of Dallas and brothers Bruce, Kurt and Justin and sisters Judy, Ingrid and Cindy and many beloved nieces and nephews- all from Arizona. He was a good man and will be greatly missed by all who loved him. An informal memorial gathering with his Dallas family is planned from 5pm-7pm on Monday, January 8, 2018 at Aria Funeral Home 19310 Preston Rd, followed by a celebration of life with Ed’s Arizona family and friends at a later date. In lieu of flowers or if you are so inclined, please consider a donation to the American Cancer Society or an organization benefiting military veterans. Arrangements are under the direction of ARIA Cremation Service and Funeral Home 19310 Preston Road Dallas, Texas 75252 214-306-6700

Rest in paradise Ed. So many wonderful memories of you and Marianne. Always such a snazzy dresser. Your life was a gift to many. So many friends who loved you and will miss you. Jesus surround his family with much love and peace. We know that this is only our temporary home and that heaven is our enternal home. Someday we will be together for the greatest reunion of all. Until then rest with the master of everything. We will meet again.
My friend Ed, I always enjoyed talking to you and learned something new or had a great laugh every time. Thank you for introducing me to Michael Buble music. Loving memories from JCPenney

We were deeply saddened to hear the passing of our cousin Butch, as we know him! Our thoughts and prayers are with you all, I wish that we could come to Texas. I’ll always remember you! Marianne, your Arizona family will miss him dearly, please accept our heartfelt sympathies!
It was always a treat to run into Ed throughout the day when he worked here at the JCP building. He would always make me laugh no matter what! I will never stomp on an acorn again without thinking of Ed!!
We as a family send our prayers and heartfelt love to you both. We have been where you are with your loss but everyone is leading a different life whether retired, still working or volunteering, just keep busy. Dwell on the beautiful memories you have not the sad ones, that’s what I will do, because Ed brought many smiles and laughter to many people, especially to those of us that knew him well.
Please be kind to yourselves during this time and live each day with a permanent smile and thought for him, I know my family will.
Very sincerely the entire Baumgardner family, Az
Dear Marianne and Samantha,
We feel your loss, and know that he is with other friends and family now, making them laugh as he did here with his friends.
Please take time for yourselves to heal and continue on just as you must. Ed left an imprint of smiles, laughter, trivia, and friendship with so many too numerous to count. We as a family, myself, Ray and Amanda, plus their families , wish your family prayers and peace, love and sincere condolences with your loss of your very special one.
Evelyn, Ray, and Amanda Hall , Arizona
Steve and I are happy that Ed and Marianne moved to Texas and into our community of good friends and active neighbors. Ed was a part of the men’s Monday morning meet and talk group and a member of the Villas Wine Group! Ed was talkative, fun and enjoyed being around friends as we all enjoyed he and Marianne so much. We are so sorry about his illness and sorry that we didn’t get to have him around us longer. He was a good man and friend.
I will miss you my friend.
It was great seeing you and chatting with you at the NDA dart tournaments.
Rest with the Lord my friend!!!
I will miss you Butch you were a damn good cousin. The best times ever in Sun Valley So Cal when you showed me how to build cool model cars. Rest In Peace brother
