Parker, Ronald L.
Obituary
Ronald Leo Parker, 82 – returned home to the arms of Our Almighty Father on Thursday, January 25, 2018. He is survived by his wife, Louise; his daughter, Angela; his brother-in-law, Bob; sisters-in-law Angeline and Margie; and his beloved nieces and nephews who all knew him as “Uncle Ronnie.” He is now joyfully reunited with his father, Leo; mother, Rose (Andy); sister, Arlene (Bob); sister-in-law, Mary (Jim); brothers-in-law Jack, Vincent (Betty), Bob (Angeline), Jim (Mary), and Ted (Margie); nephew, Randy; and niece, Sandy (John). Born in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, Ron lived the latter half of his life in Plano, Texas, where, together with Louise, he thrived in his sales career, raised a college graduate, entertained friends of theirs and their daughter’s, and enjoyed a host of hobbies. As a noble patriot, Ron served his country honorably in the United States Army before launching his career in international shipping. His travels gave him the opportunity to visit over 20 countries, learn many different cultures, and share some of his journeys with his wife and daughter. Although he lived in one of the country’s top spots for meaty meals, few people could grill a better steak or chicken wing platter than Ron. Preparing and serving meals for his family and friends was one of his greatest pleasures, most times in tandem with Louise’s own culinary additions and exquisite table settings. Anyone who ever played a game with Ron was fortunate enough to enjoy him in one of his favorite pastimes, and only one round let his opponent know how fiercely competitive he was, whether the game was golf, bocce ball, racquetball, tennis, darts, Backgammon, Pictionary, Trivial Pursuit, or his decades-long favorite game – cards. Any remembrance of Ron’s life would be remiss without mentioning his love for animals and the many pets he felt so passionately about training and nurturing during the course of his life, which included four German Shepherds, two Shih-Tzus, an Irish Setter, a Cockapoo, five cats, four birds, and a little black dog named Toto. There will be a funeral Mass on Saturday, February 17 at 11:30 am at St. Elizabeth Seaton Catholic Church, 2700 W. Spring Creek Pkwy in Plano. A reception will follow in the parish hall. In lieu of flowers, consider buying a cup of coffee or a meal for the next first responder or military soldier you see; Ron loved doing that. Or please consider a memorial donation to Operation Homefront, a charity that provides emergency financial and other assistance to the families of our service members and wounded warriors, via their Web site: www.operationhomefront.org.
