Obituary

James Royce Perry, known by those who loved him as both Jim and Jamie, was born on February 13, 1956 in Franklin, Indiana to parents Glenn Fredrick Perry and Saundra Kay Perry.  Jim passed away on March 2, 2018 at the age of 62 in Dallas, TX. Growing up in Columbus, Indiana as the second of seven children, Jamie graduated from Columbus North High School in 1974 before later earning an Associates Degree from Delta College in Saginaw, MI.  In January of 1984, he moved to Dallas, Texas with his wife and two children, where he continued his career as the owner of his own home remodeling business, repairing and upgrading the homes of his customers throughout the Dallas area.  Jamie loved basketball and horse racing, and looked forward to March Madness and the Kentucky Derby each and every year.  He loved to cook, especially the recipes that had been passed down to him from his grandmother, Rosemary.  He was always up for a celebration, and enjoyed spending time with his family and friends whenever he could. Jim was preceded in death by his father, Glenn Fredrick Perry Sr. and by his brother, Glenn Fredrick Perry Jr.  He is survived by his son, Jonathan (Jennifer), and his daughter, Katie (Bobby) Jeffrey, his mother, Saundra (Charles) Martin, and his siblings- Joe, Brett (Jeanie), Julie Giggy, Dana, and Lisa (Jim) Spray.  He also leaves behind 6 grandchildren- Delilah, Jax, Everett, Miles, Theo, and Oliver, as well as 22 nieces and nephews, 28 great nieces and nephews, 3 great great nieces and nephews, his uncle Dan (Marcia) Owens, 3 cousins, and members of his honorary “Texas Family” – Nanci and Art Huskey and LaNelle and Chuck Gallagher. A memorial service will be held on March 5, 2018 from 6:00 PM – 8:00 PM at Aria Memorial Chapel in Dallas, Texas. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you consider making a donation to the American Cancer Society. His fun take on life was a bright spot for all who knew him.  A genuine gentleman in cowboy boots.  He will be so missed.  He’s dancing on streets of gold today, but he will always be in our hearts. Arrangements are under the direction of ARIA Cremation Service and Funeral Home 19310 Preston Road Dallas, Texas 75252 214-306-6700

I first met Jamie when we were in second grade at Garfield school in Columbus. He was my very first boyfriend, and I’ve had a soft spot for him ever since! Back in the early 80s, I hire Jamie to build a room addition on my house. He was there for a couple of months, and often times brought Jonathan and Katie with him, I’m certain he brought them with him so he could show them off to me, he was quite the doting dad l I moved away from Columbus about the same time Jamie moved to Texas, so we didn’t get to see each other very often, but we always made a point of catching upat our class reunion’s. I don’t ever remember Jamie not having that sweet boyish grin on his face, that alone would melt your heart!!! I don’t need to tell you how lucky you were to have you be in your life, we were all lucky. He was the best, and I will forever miss him!

Jaime as I called him was one of my favorite cousins! We were close. I lost touch with him over a course of over 20 years and his lovely sisters contacted me and we spoke quite often and my husband was able to meet him and his family! What a guy! Here, here for dancing on the streets of gold! Love, Connie, (Bill) Eggleston

Jim did a LOT of work on my parents’ house and some work on my house, and everything he did was beautiful. He became more than that to us, though. He was a guest at my brother’s wedding and some of the Hinds family celebrations. We loved Jim and will miss him.

We were saddened to hear of Jamie’s passing. Our thoughts and prayers go out to the family. We are especially thinking of Saundra today. No Mother should have to bury their child, let alone two of them. Bless you all.

"Nothing prepares you for the grief you go through when losing a child. I called this funeral home at 2:00 am broken and could barely talk. The amount of compassion and empathy they showed me immediately let me know I found the right place to cremate my son. I cannot thank them enough for their professionalism, SINCERE concern, and commitment to making sure my son was honored in the most respectful way. I hope this Funeral home values her as much as my family and I do."

"I can’t say enough about how helpful and professional Dusty Martin, the funeral director at the Aria Cremation location on NW Highway has been. From my initial call, he was kind and informative. My friend died at home while on hospice and she was picked up in about an hour after receiving the call from the hospice nurse. The person who arrived to pick her up was also very professional/respectful and allowed us to take as much time with her as we wished. When I met with Dusty the next day about arrangements, he explained the process and options available without being pushy or trying to “sell” extras. Throughout the process, he kept me informed and, for example, was careful to be certain I understood the cost of the obituary I wanted and offered some options for reducing that cost if I wished. When I stopped by for another reason and started talking about some of the problems I was having with the pictures and media I hoped to use at a memorial lunch I was planning, he not only listened patiently but offered technology advice and let me use his personal media player. I have had experience arranging cremations for four others using two other local companies, and this experience with Dusty at Aria has been by far the best one I have had."

"My Daddy’s service and our family experience at Aria Northwest Highway was truly blessed. Funeral Director Dustin Martin is the kind of person that you would like to see on a more regular basis – but in his industry – you hope to not see him that often. That being said – THANK YOU DUSTIN for your unending kindness, compassion and friendship through the process. Meeting you and discussing Dallas History, Find A Grave and my Dad’s lifelong contributions to the great City of Dallas was simply wonderful! In memory of my dad James A. Dodd, Sr. – I want to personally thank you and let you know that you made everything better in that moment. Your calling to “Be There” is spot on. Aria has a one in a million guy in you! Bling Blinky of TEXAS Shout Out: God Bless You!!"
