Obituary
Dorothea Ann Lankford McKeever of Denton, Texas (formerly of Ovilla, Texas) has joined her high school sweetheart and loving husband of 45 years, Reavis Smith (Buddy) McKeever, in God’s glorious Heaven. She died after a very long illness at the age of 83 March 8, 2018. Dorothea has been a member of the First Baptist Church, Dallas, Texas since the 1970’s. Family members preceding Dorothea in death are her parents, Otto Ray and Ruth Magdalene Lankford; and three brothers, Robert David Lankford, Ray Lankford, Jr., and William Edward (Bill) Lankford. Survivors include a daughter, Laura Ann Mercer and her husband, Stan; and two sons, Robert Steven McKeever and wife, Patti; and Mark Edward McKeever and wife, Christy. She leaves behind five grandchildren, Amy Lanette Rutledge, Daniel Reavis Mercer, Rachel Ann Hopper, Cole Reavis McKeever, Finn Arthur McKeever; and two great grandchildren, Shane Reavis Rutledge and Austin Harold Rutledge. She is also survived by a sister, Eugenia Lankford Denniston and brother Albert Roy Lankford and wife, Wanda, plus many nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews; extended family and innumerable friends. Dorothea was a loving mother and chose to be a “stay-at-home” Mom rather than work outside the home. She was an excellent seamstress; a talented artist; a gifted gardener; brilliant at crafts; and loved participating in Bible studies. Her father was a chef and she inherited his talent in the kitchen. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her. Funeral services will be held at the graveside at Laurel Land Funeral Home and Memorial Park on Saturday, March 17 at 11:00 A.M. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to: Parkinson’s Research.
