Gordon Davis Mowl, 87, passed at Baylor Scott & White McKinney on March 7, 2018.

A “Celebration of Life” will be at Aria Funeral Home – Preston Road on April 7th from 2-4, come and go.  Graveside services will be on Sunday, April 15 at  2:00 p.m., in Henderson, Texas, at Lakewood Cemetery under the direction of Aria Funeral Home with full military honors.

Gordon was born in Avery, Texas, on October 18, 1930.  He grew up in Henderson, Texas, and attended Henderson High School where he played football and baseball.  He married his high school sweetheart Jean Warren on May 9, 1951, and they enjoyed 52 great years together before her passing in 2003.  He joined the Army in 1951 and was enlisted until 1954 serving in the Korean War.  Gordon enrolled in Stephen F. Austin and graduated with a B.B.A. in Accounting.  He was employed in many different aspects of the financial services industries over the years.

He was Chief Financial Officer with Price Waterhouse in both Houston and Dallas from 1956-1965.  He joined Hydrometals, Inc. in 1965 and served as CFO until 1978.  He was Senior Vice President of Lear Petroleum from 1980-1987.  He was a self-employed financial consultant for many years, and enjoyed preparing taxes in his later years.  He was a member of many organizations including Texas Society of CPAs and The American Institute of CPAs.

He joined Royal Oaks Country Club and was a member until 1990, where he loved to play golf and enjoy the club with his family and friends.  He also enjoyed church, family dinners, hunting and fishing.

Gordon is preceded in death by his wife of 52 years, Jean Warren Mowl.  He is survived by son and daughter-in-law, Chris and Lori Mowl, daughter, Melissa Mowl and partner Denise Nixon, and grandchildren, Peyton, Jacob, and Micah Mowl.  Gordon was a sweet husband, wonderful father, and beloved “Papaw.”

Gordon was such a brilliant and very nice man! I wish I would’ve taken more of my time to visit him. He always gave me hugs whenever I did see him!! You and Momma Mowl did a wonderful job raising Melissa and Chris! Until we meet again RIP Gordon ❤️
