Most sisters grow up together and share scraped knees, clothes, tears, music and everything else. Kris and I didn’t grow up together. We met when I was 21 and she was 29….long story
Even though we grew up in different homes, we were the same in many ways…both of us were awesome dancers, we both made people laugh and we could tell stories till the cows came home. When we first met, she flew up to Santa Cruz from N. Hollywood and took me over to her Mother’s house to meet the woman who had given me up for adoption. Kris was always very “outspoken” and assertive. LOL
We shared photos of each other growing up and we looked so much alike at different ages. We had gone to the same Junior and High Schools and some teachers had even asked me if I had an older sister. As far as I had known until 1976, I was the older sister in my family.
So many memories of crazy things we did together in those early days and years. She is probably the only person who could embarrass me and she did many, many times.
We were close in the early years then we grew apart with jobs and moves to other States. We stayed in touch but never had that same initial connection.
When Kris moved to Texas to be closer to her daughter and granddaughter I had mixed feelings. Somehow over the years she had changed her political views and for every endorsement for her party, I had just the opposite view. As much as I would protest that we weren’t alike, we were more alike than not.
I wish I had spent more time with her, listening to her stories..God knows she lived a very interesting life and drug me into some interesting situations. Every Christmas she would call with her demented Santa and on Thanksgiving she would do the crazy turkey.
Kris, you will be missed. I told you while you were in the hospital that I would be here for Alycia and Jaida and I will do whatever I can for them. Rest in peace and please don’t do anything to get 86’d from Heaven. I a proud to be your sister.
Our deepest condolences to the family and so sorry for your loss. But now she is a beautiful Angel watching over you now.Time will heal but memories last forever.
I am so sorry to hear of the your loss. Death is truly an enemy. (1 Cor 15:26) However, this verse contains the hope that we all look forward to when this enemy “will be brought to nothing.” Until that time, be assured that your pain is shared by many, including God, who makes the promise to “swallow up death in victory”. (Isaiah 25:8) May this hope comfort you in your time of grief.
Have known Kris for nearly 40 years. Was her boss for some of the time, if anyone could ever be her boss.
She was wonderful and caring, and always a ton of fun too.
Glad she called me a few months ago.
She is missed.
