Murphy, Michael Bruce Born November 28, 1939 to Patrick and Ruth Murphy of Tulsa, Oklahoma. After a 7 and a half year battle with cancer Mike Passed away on January 12, 2019 in Plano Texas at the age of 79. Michael grew up in Tulsa, Oklahoma with his mother, father and sister Patricia. He graduated from Central High School in Tulsa in 1958. He received a degree from the Spartan School of Aeronautics around 1960 in Tulsa. Mike joined the United States Air Force as an air mechanic. He was stationed at Hickam Air Force Base in Honolulu in the sixties. He joined the Air Force Reserves and worked for American Airlines for 10 years as a mechanic. Mike was a Natural Salesman beginning his sales career at the age of six selling donuts. He began his career in the life insurance field in 1969 where he worked most of his life. He and Ginger met each other while working for Colonial Life and Accident in 1987. Mike moved his career to Aflac, and Ginger returned to her teaching life. He served as Agent, District Sales Coordinator, and Regional Sales Coordinator. He never retired! He lived to work every day He had so many Aflac awards that Ginger left her teaching job so she could accompany him of all the wonderful Aflac award trips. Mike and Ginger ran their careers together for 25 wonderful years. Mike and Ginger were married for 27 very happy years! He loved to dance, and finally got Ginger to compete with him on the dance floor. He loved to travel, but his favorite thing was spending time with his grandkids. He was a fantastic father, husband, friend, and mentor to so many people. Mike never met a stranger, and he could start a conversation with anybody! He was preceded in death by his sister Patricia Maska and his parents, Ruth and Pat. He is survived by his wife Ginger Murphy, son Michael, daughters Kim and Debra, step daughters Tori and Amanda, and step son Will. His Grand children are Spenser, Matthew, Patrick, Jessica, Alex, Ronin, Isabella and Whitney. Nieces Lisa and Suzy Celebration Life will be held at Cross Creek Ranch 3406 Dublin Road, Parker, Texas 75002 February 3, 2019 at 2:00 PM. Please feel free to dress comfortably. If you wish to wear a coat and tie …wear it! If you wish to wear jeans… wear them! We will “Worship in the Woods “ Bring your best memories of Mr. Murphy to service. Very saddened by the news of Mike’s passing. Words can’t express the impact he had on my life as my mentor in my career with Aflac. Additionally, he was a good friend…wish we could have spent more time together.
