Obituary
William “Bill” Leon Brown Jr., 73 passed away Friday, February 22nd, 2019 at his home in Wylie, TX, surrounded by family. Bill was born in Oxford, MS, to the late William L Brown Sr. and Nina Mills Brown. Bill served his country in the U.S. Navy as a deep sea diver and electrician’s mate. He served his community as a police officer for the City of Dallas, TX, for 23 years and then as a jailer for Plano, TX, until his retirement. He is survived by his wife Diann VanLandingham Brown, his son Robert “Bobby” Brown, grandchildren Connor and Isabella Brown, sister Carol Jean Taylor of Holly Springs, MS, brother-in-law Wayne “Benjy” VanLandingham (Margaret), sisters-in-law, Debra Presley (Andy), Monica Hamblin (Rickey) and Allison VanLandingham. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents William L. Brown Sr. and Nina Mills Brown and his beloved son William “Billy” Leon Brown III. A memorial service, celebrating the life of Bill Brown, will be held Saturday, March 2nd at 2 PM at Wylie United Methodist Church. The service will be conducted by Pastor Wally Williams. In lieu of flowers please make donations to Wylie United Methodist Church at 1401 Country Club Road, Wylie, TX. 75098 or to St. Jude’s Hospital.
