I met Ward at “My top secret hiding place” aka Uncommon Market. I so enjoyed dealing with Ward, such a warm and generous man who was kind enough to let me visit his home for show and tell along with digging around through the family store. He will live on through the memories of us all.
Ward…you were the kindest and most talented man we have ever known. When we lived next door to you and Nancy we always said you were “the best neighbors we ever had”.. both of you such sweet people and your love of animals was the best. You will be missed by many. Nancy.. my heart is with you.. we will see you on tuesday.. Michelle and Bill Adam also sends his condolences as well.. xo
Ward was such a kind, family oriented, creative, talented, fair minded, bright, and generous guy. His warm smile and personality were always so wonderful. I always loved visiting the Uncommon Market – his warmth made it seem like a visit to a home rather than a business. He was such terrific blessing. I will miss him so, so much.
Ward had it all, personality, creative talent, a giving nature, a hard worker and great provider for his family. I will miss him profoundly.
Ward never met a stranger. His outgoing personality and warmth would fill a room. My friend for 47 years will be greatly missed.
Just wanting you all to know that you are in my thoughts at this difficult and unbearably sad time. I wish you strength, courage and love and know that we will all have strong and wonderful memories of Ward to hold in our hearts.
Sandi
Nancey, we are truly sorry and dismayed to learn of Ward’s passing and our thoughts will be with you tomorrow. We will remember him as a fine man.
I was saddened when I learned of Ward’s passing. He was not only a loyal customer but also a friend and all around good guy. My condolences to the family.
Ward,my dear and very special friend.
It has been wonderful having you in our lives for so many years .You have always been the maypole for your family and in many ways by example for us too. France and London will never be the same . With lots of love . Mac SY Amy and Milo
Ward was a true gentleman and a lovely, generous, funny friend. When I last saw him in London with dear Curt last year, I hugged him and told him I loved him. I always will and that love will keep him alive. I echo Mac and Sandi’s sentiments, he was our dear friend and my thoughts and love are with Nancey and all the family.
Ed and I first shopped with Ward in the late 70s while remodeling our dream home in amarilllo. Upon moving to Dallas 30 yrs ago our love affair with all the Mayborns and Uncommon hit full steam. I shopped for my interor design customers and for my daughters and for my self. Ward was the kindest, fairest, most knowledgeable and loveable of many fine associations. I am grieving most sincerely and send my love and sympathy to Nancey, Scott and Laura, Don, Scott McClellan abd everyone else. There is a huge hole in my heart. my love, Elaine Notestine
Ward – I have been gazing at one of your works hanging from my ceiling house after house for now on forty five years. Thank you.
