Toon, Michael B.
Obituary
Michael “Brock” Toon of Frisco, TX was born on January 23, 1948 and passed away on March 14, 2019 at BaylorScott & White – Centennial Hospital in Frisco. Brock had been a resident of Frisco since 2000 and previously, DeSoto, TX. He was born in Cooper, TX to Cecil and Eva Toon. Until the age of 4, he lived on a farm along with his brother, Cecil, and sister, Petrece. In 1952, the family moved to Dallas and lived in Oak Cliff. He graduated from South Oak Cliff High School in 1965 where he was active and very successful in ROTC. He was a Cadet Commander his Senior year and an expert marksman. He went on to attend East Texas State University in Commerce and graduated with a degree in Chemistry and Biology. After he graduated, he began his career as a Geochemist with Mobil Oil Company until his retirement in 2000, where he made many friends and memories. He was known to many of his friends at Mobil as the “Brockster”. In 1967, he married Kathryn Beasley and were married for 28 years. In 1973, their son, Alan, was born. In 1996, he met Teri Taylor and married in 1997. One of his many interests was fishing, and an avid fisherman he was. He especially enjoyed fishing and spending time with his father. One day they caught more than 300 fish. Later he, his father and brother cleaned fish for hours and gave away most of them. Though Brock loved fishing, he did like to eat fish. In addition to fishing, he enjoyed sailing his boat on Lake Ray Hubbard with friends. Among his other interests were photography, painting, making pottery, yard art and lastly, creating jewelry. Brock was excellent at anything he tried. Grandpa “Broccoli”, as he is known by his youngest grandson, will be greatly missed. He always enjoyed picking up his grandsons and some of their friends from school. As the boys were always hungry, he would take them to get something to eat and tell them jokes and wild stories. The grandsons felt their Grandpa Brock was the “smartest person” they knew. Brock is survived by his wife, Teri Taylor of Frisco, TX; son, Alan Toon and wife, Kelly, of Little Elm, TX; step-daughter, Lisa Giannopoulos, and husband, Spiro, of Plano, TX; step-son, Phillip Taylor, and fiancee’, Jalaa Schultz, of Tulsa, OK; grandsons, Kosta Giannopoulos, Nikolas Giannopoulos and Brayden Taylor; brother, Cecil Toon, and wife Mary, of New Braunfels, TX; sister, Petrece Price, and husband, Larry, of Fort Worth, TX. A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, April 13, 2019, 2:00 to 5:00 pm, at Heritage Lakes, 3948 Village Blvd, Frisco, TX 75034. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to SPCA or the American Kidney Foundation.
