Waggoner, Karen L.
Obituary
Karen Lynn Waggoner, an angel among us, filled with beauty and grace, was a loving family member, a beloved friend and she was tireless in her joy for helping those in need. Karen departed our lives on June 8, 2013 at the age of 60. Family and friends were Karen’s abundant joy. She is survived by her husband Rick W. Waggoner, her son and daughter-in-law, Nathan and Alison Adame and daughter and son-in-law Natalie and Terry Saad. Karen is survived by her step mother Jean Price, her brother and sister-in-law, Ron and Beverly Price, her brother Mike Price, her sisters-in-law Beckie Price, Vicki Waggoner Tate, Alice Fredrick, Sherry Crews and brother-in-law Charles Crews. Karen is also survived by her grandchildren Paloma Athens, Adrian Saad, Roman Adame, Leia Rose Saad, and Daniel Adame, as well as eighteen nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her father William Thomas Price and her mother Eloise Clapp Price, as well as her brother Phil Price and her sister in law Pattie Price. Karen is also survived by her lifelong friend, Paula Farris, who forever held her hand through beautiful and stormy weather. Karen loved spending time with her beloved friends and family. She was rich in both. As a mother and grandmother she devoted her time caring for the needs of her family. She was an anchor to her children Nathan and Natalie, a constant source of love and understanding. When she became a grandmother, she did everything possible to support and love her beautiful grandchildren. As a wife, sister, sister-in-law, aunt, and godmother, Karen’s love simply could not be topped. She meant so much to so many. Karen made friends everywhere she went, and she managed to keep those beloved friends throughout her lifetime. She especially loved to travel with friends and enjoy beautiful meals together. Karen loved to get out and enjoy life, experience cultural activities, and in those pursuits she always had many friends and laughter. After trying her hand at banking and real estate, Karen found her calling at the American Heart Association where she passionately dedicated much of her life. For nearly twenty eight years as an employee for the American Heart Association, Karen was a constant inspiration to those who were privileged to work with her. Through her kindness, warmth and joy Karen lead her colleagues in their mission to save lives, making many great contributions over her career. Built on her years of experience and success, Karen’s strength in her volunteer relationships, many of which grew into lifelong friendships, was a hallmark of her remarkable career. For her exceptional work in fundraising, Karen received the American Heart Association’s Rome Betts Award of Excellence, bestowed upon recipients for their leadership, professionalism and dedication. In honor of her life’s pursuit, fighting heart disease and stroke and in her courageous, personal fight against cancer, Karen wished for memorial donations made to the American Heart Association and the American Cancer Society. For two years, Karen fought cancer with incredible grace and conviction before finally breaking free from the disease. Karen Waggoner’s life transcends her passing and leaves behind an indelible love that is carried on by all who knew her. A Celebration of her life will be held at 3:00 P.M., Saturday, June 15, 2013 at St. Andrew United Methodist Church 5801 W. Plano Parkway, Plano, Texas 75093. Arrangements are under the direction of ARIA Cremation Service and Funeral Home 19310 Preston Road, Dallas, Texas 75252 214-306-6700.

I have many fond memories of Karen and her energy, enthusiasm and sweet spirit when I was with AHA. She was extremely loved by all of those whose life she touched. My thoughts and prayers are with you all during this difficult time.
Sorry to hear about the loss of your mother Nathan. May you take comfort in knowing an angel is watching over you. Demeatra Reason and Family
Karen was a superstar in life. One of her most endearing qualities was her love for God and her love for others.
Karen was equally engaged in making everyone she met feel important. She championed treating everyone she met with great dignity whether the person was at the top of the food chain or the bottom.
Karen would never give up on anyone even if they met failure. She would continue to show grace to everyone.
A good name is to be treasured above silver and gold. Karen Waggoner left this life with a very good name. My final description of her was “grace in motion”. Thanks, Karen for making the world a much better place. Dene and Mary Allred
