Boone, Glenn W.
Obituary
Glenn Wayne Boone was called home to be with the Lord on April 11th, 2019 after an extended illness. He was born on October 6th, 1934 in Navarro County to Dorothy & Clyde Boone, the eldest of two boys. As a young man he worked as a “roughneck” in the oil fields of South Texas, before proudly serving his country in the Armed Services. Stationed overseas he often reminisced of his many adventures in Germany & Paris. After his honorable discharge from the Army, Glenn returned home to Texas to play baseball and study ministry at Southwestern University in Georgetown. He soon transferred to Southwest Texas University in San Marcus, where he was a fraternity brother of Lyndon B. Johnson and most importantly met the love of his life on a blind date. One of the family’s favorite stories is how he and all his friends pretended he had a twin named “Dwayne”. Wayne was the responsible romantic, and “Dwayne” was wild and spontaneous. A few weeks after dating they both proposed, Karen turned them down because she was in love with both and could not pick between the two…so Glenn had to confess they were one and the same. They were married on April Fools’ Day (4/1/61). They always said he was joking, but she took him seriously. Shortly after Glenn graduated with a BS in Business and a Minor in Theology, they relocated to Richardson. Where he worked in the Defense Industry, served as a Richardson Reserve Police Officer and coached his daughter’s soccer teams. A devoted husband and loving father and grandfather; preceded by his wife Karen, parents Dorothy & Clyde Boone. Survived by his brother Billy Boone of Snyder, Texas; his daughter Kathy and husband Terry Gammill, daughter Kimberly and husband Kevin Perry, his grandchildren: Chance, Chasity, Cody, Nicole and husband Brad, Robin and husband James, Shane and wife PJ, Tonya and husband Scot. His great-grandchildren: Auggie, Belle, Bryce, Harper, Justin, and Ty. His beloved pets: Harley, Lucky and Pete, Glenn’s ashes will be entombed at the DFW National Cemetery along with his beloved wife, Karen. Please join us for a celebration of life on Tuesday, April 23rd at 3:00 pm, at Aria Funeral Home, 19310 Preston Road in Dallas, Texas. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the American Cancer Society.
