Pearce, James Richard

James Richard (Rick) Pearce, 69, of Plano died April 17, 2019.

Rick, a native of Fort Worth, was devoted to God, family and anyone who needed his help.

Friends  remember his smile, which they say could light up a room, and his gentle easy-going manner that made everyone feel comfortable.

His father left when he was a teen, and he dropped out of school to work and help his mother and baby sister. Later, he got his G.E.D. and went to work as a buyer for Raytheon in the area of military contracts. He married and had two daughters  who gave him five grandchildren.

Nearly 30 years ago, he married his devoted wife, Barbara, who taught in the Richardson school system for many years. Barbara’s two sons gave Rick another five grandchildren.

They travelled extensively and when they retired, Rick and Barbara moved to Lake Fork, where they could enjoy fishing, golf and bowling.

Church was a big part of Rick’s life. He wanted to serve God in any way he could and was an active volunteer. In East Texas he led a cooking team that served all of the youth on Wednesday nights. He was also active on a number of other church committees.

But the call of being near family was strong, and Rick and Barbara moved to Graham several years ago to be closer to family. Circumstances later brought them to Plano.

In addition to Barbara, left to cherish Rick’s memory are his daughter Monica and her husband Eddie of Graham, his daughter Melannie and her husband Jessie of Graham, his stepson Dustin and his wife Megan of Austin, his sister Jan and her husband James of Graham, grandchildren, other relatives and friends.
