Obituary
Rebecca “Becky” Ann Horsman, 66, of Irving, TX passed away peacefully on Monday, June 17, 2019, with her family by her side. She was born August 8,1952 in Dallas, TX. Becky grew up in Irving, where she attended elementary school, Travis Junior High and was a 1972 graduate of Mac Arthur High School. She attended Mountain View Junior College for a year, then attended North Texas State University in Denton where she was only 16 hours shy of getting her Bachelor of Arts degree. She worked as Office Manager for Interstate Batteries in Arlington for many years until she retired in 2014. Becky loved music and enjoyed singing. She sang with the New Hope Singers at Plymouth Park Baptist Church in Irving and the Irving Opry. She played the piano and taught herself to play the guitar and banjo. She also loved to travel and write poetry; she won several awards for her poetry work. She made many good memories fishing with her family at Lake Texoma. Becky loved cooking and would always make more than enough to feed her family and friends. Usually when there was cooking there would be games. Some of her favorites games included 42, poker, Tripoly and Farkle but she was always willing to try something new. She also played online games with her siblings and family on her iPad. She loved attending Texas Rangers baseball games and watching them on television. She especially enjoyed watching old movies on the Turner Classic Movie channel. Christmas was her favorite holiday and sometimes she would even leave her Christmas tree up year round. She looked forward to spending time with her family and friends anytime she could. She loved any reason to celebrate! Becky was a beloved Sister, Aunt (NOA) and Gabby to her family as well as a friend of many. She will be greatly missed but never forgotten. Her smile, laugh and positive attitude was a joy to be around. Becky is survived by her sister Janet Watson of Euless; sister Terry and Steve Wood of Frisco, brother Robert and Leslie Horsman of Irving; nephew Michael and Jodie Cooper of Lewisville, nephew Todd and Kim Cooper of Euless, nephew Branson Horsman of Irving and great nephew and niece Tate and Kara Cooper. She also leaves behind many loving relatives and friends. She is preceded in death by her parents Albert and Charlie Horsman; grandparents Alvah and Rovelia Horsman and Harry and Parthenia “Dotty” Terry. A graveside service will be held on July 3, 2019, at 10:30 a.m. Old Kit Cemetery, 1413 East Irving Boulevard, Irving, TX, 75060 (Next to Oak Grove Memorial Cemetery). I miss you beyond measure. “Every time a bell rings an Angel gets her wings”.
Becky Horsman always had something Christmas visible in her home. She said, “it reminds me to have that joy all year long” That is why I also keep something Christmas visible in my home too. My parents brought all us kids back snow-globes from the 911 Memorial w/Santa & his sleigh flying by the Twin Towers. It is displayed year round in honor of all it represents.
I am so sorry for you loss. RIP
Janet – Our sincere condolences for the loss of your sister.
