February 15, 1930 - August 27, 2019
Warren D. Albin, Jr. passed away peacefully Tuesday, August 27, 2019, at Grand Brook Memory Care, McKinney, Texas. He was born in Dallas, Texas.
Warren joined the Navy at 17 years of age. He trained hard to be an HMCS corpsman. He was sent with the Marines to Korea where he was wounded in action earning a Purple Heart. He was sent to a Japanese hospital and then later recovered in Hawaii. He loved to tell the story of how the Navy had mistakenly informed his family that he was KIA and afterward how he surprised them by appearing at his brother Richard’s house a few months later. He once made an impromptu speech at a Veteran’s ceremony saying, “I would do it all over again.” He retired as Senior Chief Petty Officer from the US Navy, but continued to work at Bethesda Naval Hospital until he retired from there and moved to Texas.
Warren’s favorite activity was to go bowling. He and Madge have many first place trophies on display. Chess and painting were favorite pastimes until he started having grand-babies and then he spent lots of time taking videos. Oh, yes! he especially loved to hold those babies.
Warren leaves behind a loving wife of 66 years, Madge (Brown) Albin; 3 daughters, Barbara and Mark Stevenson of McKinney, Texas; Judith and Dennis Hayes of Keyser, West Virginia; Joyce and Don Hartman of Poolesville, Maryland; many grandchildren and great grandchildren; surviving brother, Milton Albin; as well as many nieces and nephews.
