Obituary
Steve (83) went to be with the Lord on August 27, 2019. He passed peacefully at home, with family at his side. He was a resident of Anna, Texas, and is survived by his wife of 56 years, Judith Dorrance Sanchez, along with two sons Stephen Sanchez of Anna, Texas, and Christopher Sanchez of Anna, Texas, and a daughter Kimberly Ann Griffin and husband Eric, of Midland, Texas, and three grandchildren including McKenzie Griffin of Dallas, Texas, Delanie Griffin of Midland, Texas and Gunnar Griffin, of Midland, Texas. Sister Cora Rodriguez, and Sister Emily and husband Bill Kinzy, Brother David Sanchez and wife Evelyn, all of Albuquerque, New Mexico, and a large number of wonderful nieces and nephews. Steve was preceded in death by his parents, Juan and Cora Sanchez, a sister Ida Sanchez and two brothers, Willie Sanchez and Ernest Sanchez. Steve was proud of all his children, and had a special bond with his grandchildren, who brought him much happiness and pride. Steve was proud to have served in the US Army. After being discharged, he was hired by the IBM Corporation, and spent the next 32 years with the corporation traveling and working in such states as Washington, DC, Colorado, Arizona and, Texas. Steve graduated from UTD Dallas and loved learning. He attended Holy Family Catholic Church in Van Alstyne, Texas. where he was a lecture. Steve enjoyed serving in various volunteer opportunities throughout his life. . He was a volunteer at The Samaritan Inn Homeless Shelter in McKinney, Texas for the past 11 years and taught English as a second language to students at Richland College in Richardson, Texas. He participated in the IBM Executive on Loan Program, working in the community for 12 months,. He also volunteered in his Neighborhood Crime Watch, and enjoyed coaching his children’s sport teams. He especially enjoyed reading, golf, boating and gardening in his spare time. A graveside service with Military Honors will be held at Highland Cemetery in Melissa, Texas, on September 28, 2019, at 11:00. A reception will be held at the First Anna Church following the service. In lieu of flowers, the family asks donations to be made to The American Lung Association, or the Samaritan Inn Homeless Shelter in McKinney, Texas.

I am so sad to read of Steve’s passing. I know we have lost touch thru the years and I wanted to check on you and your family during the Coronavirus crisis. I came upon Steve’s obituary. He was such a dear man and so intelligent. My condolences to you, Judi and family.
