Mangin, Robert Louis
Obituary
Robert Louis Mangin, (62), passed away on August 31 in Dallas, Texas. He was the husband of Janice Weise Mangin. They shared over 29 years of marriage together. Robert was a loving husband to Janice and a devoted father to William Walker and Mary Katherine. Robert’s pride in his children was evident every time you talked to him. Robert enjoyed cooking and was famous for his crawfish boils. He loved animals, especially rescued Labrador Retrievers. He was a sports fan who greatly enjoyed the New Orleans Saints, Oklahoma Sooners, and Texas Longhorns (in that order). Robert was born in New Orleans, Louisiana, the son of Marcel and Ada Mangin. He graduated from Chalmette High School just outside of New Orleans. He received a BS in Computer Science from the University of Southwestern Louisiana in Lafayette (now the University of Louisiana at Lafayette). While at USL, Robert was elected president of Lambda Chi Alpha Fraternity’s local chapter, providing an early glimpse to his leadership abilities and winning personality. Robert began his career working in information technology at the Pentagon, doing things he could not talk about. He established himself as an expert in information technology with some of the industry’s most prestigious technology companies, including Honeywell, DEC, Sun Microsystems, Oracle, IBM, and most recently with Microsoft. Robert also served as an advisor and mentor to numerous entrepreneurial ventures, providing them sales, marketing, and technology expertise that will benefit them for years to come. He demonstrated his passion for computer science, while giving back to the younger generation, through his participation in a remote science Teals Program in a Rockwall, Texas high school. Robert is survived by his wife Janice, and their children Walker and Mary, and siblings Marcel Mangin, Edward Mangin, and Ada Mangin. He will be missed by many family members and friends. The family wishes to express their heartfelt appreciation and thanks for the love, friendship and support given by everyone. Memorial donations, in lieu of flowers, may be made to the Byron Nelson Momentous Institute (where he was an avid volunteer), the Epilepsy Foundation, and Operation Kindness

Hey buddy! Miss you and will always remember our conversations about life, family and career. My heartfelt condolences to your family – you were so proud of your kids and I’m sure they will continue to do you proud. Rest well my friend!
Offering my condolences to the family. I remember Robert’s smile and appreciated his candor. I also appreciated his kind way of letting us know, there’s a better way… He was our team’s expert on tools and he just had a way to “simplify” everything. He will be missed.
Sincere condolences from the Lapeyrolerie family. When I joined Microsoft a few months ago, Robert was the first person on the team to reach out and welcome me, and he also hosted a “welcome aboard” event at his local golf country club. I am grateful for Robert help, guidance and his sense of humor that put a smile over everyone’s face on the team here at MSFT. Thank you. Andre
Condolences to Janice and the whole Family. Ex brother in law he was always cordial and friendly. Robert seem to brighten every room he walked in. May he RIP
