Obituary

Tina Johnson -mother, wife, sister, friend, and teacher- died on November 9, 2019 in her family home in Hickory Creek, TX. Tina made a lasting impact on every person she encountered. She always put others before herself and had the desire to help every person that crossed her path that may be in need. Born on July 22, 1969 to her mother Mary Duran and raised by adoptive parents, Catarino and Helen Duran along with siblings Albert, Cathy, Philip, Steve, and Michael. Tina is survived by her loving husband Greg and daughters Morgan Elizabeth and Emily Kay. Tina was loved by many and a light in many of our lives. Her greatest joy in life was being a mother; to the extent that she had business cards made with the occupation being “Morgan and Emily’s mother”. She was there for every sporting event, performance, etc. and dedicated her time to the girls’ wants and needs. Funeral services will be held at First United Methodist Church of Lewisville on November 15, 2019 at 1pm. All are welcome to attend. In lieu of flowers, the family has asked that donations be made to the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline. Flowers are still welcomed as Tina loved flowers. A reception will be held immediately following the service at the same location. (907 W Main St. Lewisville TX 75067) Please leave the family condolences and share memories on this website.

I’ll always remember her smiling face and kindness. She made the best fajita’s and loved being a mom. A life cut to short. She made the world a better place by the love and kindness she gave others. We’ll miss her deeply.

I’ve known Tina 15 years. I have been through a lot with her and she’s been through a lot with me. She was the Godmother to my son, Jack. I can’t even begin to explain what she meant to my life. Almost every week for about 12 years we had lunch together. She was the 1st to know about Jack, threw his baby shower, was at the hospital when he was born and helped when I was discovering that he had autism. Her laugh was infectious. We loved our lattes and our breakfasts always turned into a 4 hour lunch. She was always there for her daughters, siblings, husband, mother-in-law and anyone else that needed her. She was a bright light in not only my life, but in the lives of everyone that knew her. Praying for Greg and the girls and knowing that I will see Tina again someday. I love you, my Dear, Dear Friend.❤️

When I think about Tina, I will always remember her as the mother of our neighborhood. When her girls were young, she would be outside for hours watching over them and the other kids. We had many driveway chats, I loved taking to her! I was hospitalized for month when my daughter was 2 weeks old and when Tina heard, she mowed our yard (my husband was going crazy with a newborn & sick wife) and she brought us a Costco size box of diapers and a precious outfit. She loved her family and treated our neighborhood as family members too. She will be so dearly missed.

I loved being around Tina. Each time we got to teach a class together was a blessing to me. Her positivity and patience with those little ones always made me feel like everything was going to be alright. She made everything brighter and more fun. I will cherish those memories and pray that her family finds peace and some comfort knowing how loved she was by all. God bless you.

Morgan, Emily, & Greg – I have not known too many people with the kind of upbeat tenacity and passion that Tina possessed. She was a true force of nature and a wonderful friend. I cannot believe that she is gone and I will truly miss her at our get-togethers. I believe that her spirit will live on thru you girls. Please honor her memory and her boundless love for you both by living your lives to the fullest and with loving memories of her. She would only want the absolute best for both of you, always.

"Nothing prepares you for the grief you go through when losing a child. I called this funeral home at 2:00 am broken and could barely talk. The amount of compassion and empathy they showed me immediately let me know I found the right place to cremate my son. I cannot thank them enough for their professionalism, SINCERE concern, and commitment to making sure my son was honored in the most respectful way. I hope this Funeral home values her as much as my family and I do."

"I can’t say enough about how helpful and professional Dusty Martin, the funeral director at the Aria Cremation location on NW Highway has been. From my initial call, he was kind and informative. My friend died at home while on hospice and she was picked up in about an hour after receiving the call from the hospice nurse. The person who arrived to pick her up was also very professional/respectful and allowed us to take as much time with her as we wished. When I met with Dusty the next day about arrangements, he explained the process and options available without being pushy or trying to “sell” extras. Throughout the process, he kept me informed and, for example, was careful to be certain I understood the cost of the obituary I wanted and offered some options for reducing that cost if I wished. When I stopped by for another reason and started talking about some of the problems I was having with the pictures and media I hoped to use at a memorial lunch I was planning, he not only listened patiently but offered technology advice and let me use his personal media player. I have had experience arranging cremations for four others using two other local companies, and this experience with Dusty at Aria has been by far the best one I have had."

"My Daddy’s service and our family experience at Aria Northwest Highway was truly blessed. Funeral Director Dustin Martin is the kind of person that you would like to see on a more regular basis – but in his industry – you hope to not see him that often. That being said – THANK YOU DUSTIN for your unending kindness, compassion and friendship through the process. Meeting you and discussing Dallas History, Find A Grave and my Dad’s lifelong contributions to the great City of Dallas was simply wonderful! In memory of my dad James A. Dodd, Sr. – I want to personally thank you and let you know that you made everything better in that moment. Your calling to “Be There” is spot on. Aria has a one in a million guy in you! Bling Blinky of TEXAS Shout Out: God Bless You!!"
