Obituary
Richard Howard Poland, 76, of Grand Prairie, Texas, passed away on January 13, 2020. The visitation service will be held at 9:00 am on January 21, 2020 at Aria Cremation & Funeral Home Services with funeral services starting at 10:00 am. Pastor Jody Witts of Grand Prairie Baptist Church will be officiating. Burial will follow at Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery at 1:15 pm. Richard was born in Minden Parish, Louisiana on July 24, 1943. He graduated from Gibsland High School and following served for four years in the United States Air Force. Richard was married to Janice on March 16, 2002. They were married for eighteen years. Richard had several careers over the years after his service in the Air Force which included a reserve police officer for Grand Prairie Police Department, firefighter, and security officer for LTV for forty-three years. He enjoyed yard work, home repairs/upgrades, and gardening. He had a great interest in trains, firetrucks, jets, photography and storm chasing. Richard is survived by his wife Janice, Step Children: Kenneth, Keith, Mary. Children: Rebecca & Matt Henslee of Mayhill, New Mexico and Richie & Jennifer Poland of Venus, Texas with nine grandchildren. Siblings: Rosa Lee & Kirby Anglin and Sid & Evelyn Poland with many other family and friends. Richard is preceded in death by his parents, Howard Brazille Poland & Helen Lucille Ryan.
