One condolence on “Kanzler, Carolyn Thorsen”

Siri Beckman says:

To Carolyn’s family,
I am saddened to learn of Carolyn’s passing through former neighbors of ours in Highland Park. Carolyn and I were best friends as children. We shared many adventures on horseback, riding through the neighborhood and woods. One favorite destination was Garrity’s Grocery where we refueled with candy or popsicles. My family moved just before I entered fifth grade. Carolyn would have been in sixth grade. I missed her friendship deeply. We got together briefly for family vacations at the Thorsen’s cabin on Gunlock Lake in Wisconsin. This is where we learned to water ski. Carolyn became quite a pro. Almost every day we rowed across the lake to the summer camp where there was an ice cream stand. One summer we rented a large old farm horse big enough for the two of us to ride. We had a glorious day riding through the Wisconsin pine woods, so different than the woods of IL.
There was a long pause as we reached college age and our lives took different paths. Carolyn and family settled in Texas and I lived in Maine, but I still had news of her through my parents at the holidays. Amazingly we re-connected when she and Don visited me in Maine. Years after Don died, Carolyn invited me to join her for a trip down the Danube which she had started with Don. It was an amazing time spent catching up on about 5 decades of living!
If anyone in Carolyn’s family would like to contact me, I would welcome it.

Excellent customer service, they made you feel like you were their only customer. Very helpful and explained what we should expect during the process. They basically took care of our needs during this time. They contacted DFW National Cemetery for us which made it a smooth experience. Definitely will use them again.
