Pearson, Candace R.

Candace Reed Pearson died peacefully on March 22, 2020 at her home in Ft. Worth, in the presence of her husband, son, mother and father.  She died from complications of metastatic cancer.  She is survived by her husband,  John Timothy (Tim) Pearson;  her children: James Reed (Reed) Watkins and Margaret Anne (Maggie) Watkins; two stepsons: John Michael Pearson and  Daniel Louis Pearson;  two sisters: Angela Davis Reed-Yakel (husband Craig), and Christina Reed Simpson (husband Chris); her mother and father: Margaret Davis Reed and George L. Reed III. Candace was born in Chapel Hill, North Carolina on February 5, 1961.  She graduated from St. Mary’s School, Memphis, TN; received a BS in Chemical Engineering at the University of Mississippi, and a MS in Civil Engineering at Memphis State University.  Candace was a licensed professional engineer in several states.  Her career was in environmental engineering, working at several engineering companies across the southeastern U.S., as family moves required. While working full time, she was also a single mom for a number of years, directing her spare time and energy to raising her two children. She participated in both Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts working  as an adult leader in both organizations and Wood Badge adult leadership training; saw that her children participated in church and school (athletics and band) activities, travel, visits to grandparents, and other similar activities.  Candace was a Presbyterian, and raised her children as such. Candace never let cancer define her, and was a fierce fighter.  She had been holding her own until about two weeks prior to her death, not letting her illness get in the way of her life.  Her attitude was, “it is what it is, don’t get in my way.”  She continued to work in her office or at home  except for time out for her treatments.  She and Tim made several vacation trips during her illness. Funeral plans are not final, and considering the current state of affairs, a memorial service will likely be held at a later date.  If you feel inclined, please make a remembrance donation to the cancer society of your choice, in her name.
