Obituary
Charles L. Hicks of Richardson Texas/ Muskogee Oklahoma went on to be with the Lord on Saturday March 21, 2020. He was surrounded by his family, in the place he called home, Country Garden Assisted Living in Muskogee, OK. Charles (Chuck) was preceded in death by his beloved wife Betty Jean Harris Hicks of Hamilton Texas in 2014 and his only son Charles H. (Bro. Chuck) Hicks in 2005. Charles was born and raised in Stephenville Texas and served in the Navy from 1948 to 1950 as a radio code translator. When he returned home he met and married his wife Betty, and then he was drafted into the Army in 1951 to serve in the Korean War as a radio code translator. While delivering a message to a Forward Observation Post his jeep was hit by a mortar round which sent metal and glass flying into his face and forearm. Charles received his purple heart for his wounds. When he returned home from his services he and Betty moved to Richardson Texas where he finished his bachelor degree in accounting and took a job in the accounting department of the Federal Department of Education. Charles and Betty enjoyed serving and worshiping at the First Baptist Church of Richardson. Charles leaves behind a sister Ruth Ann Creagh and a brother Travis Hicks, He had several nieces and nephews. His other two brothers Dale and Bobbie went on before him. He also leaves behind a daughter in law Marcia Hicks of Webbers Falls Oklahoma his grandson John Mark Hicks, his wife Melissa and a great granddaughter Hadlee, all from Gore,, Oklahoma. His youngest grandson Joel Hicks and his wife Ilze of Broken Arrow Oklahoma. Charles will be remembered by his family and friends as a strong christian family man who never met a stranger and was extremely proud of his service to our country.
