Lackner, Kristen Keado
Obituary
Kristen Keado Lackner went home to be with her Heavenly Father early Tuesday morning, May 13, 2020. Though her passing from a non-Coronavirus related illness was sudden and unexpected, Kristen would want those who loved her to take comfort in God’s promise of eternal life for all who know Him. Kristen was born August 29, 1968 in Troy, New York to Conrad and Linda Keado, but the family moved to Dallas soon after her birth. Kristen always claimed Texas as her home state, and was fond of saying that though she wasn’t born a Texan she got here as soon as she could! She graduated from Lake Highlands High School in 1986, and went on to Brown University where she majored in political science. Kristen treasured her time at Brown, throwing herself into the rigorous coursework with joy and becoming deeply involved in Kappa Alpha Theta, where she found a loyal sisterhood that would last a lifetime. This is also where she met her loving husband of 27 years, Randy. After graduation, Kristen returned home to Dallas where she became the general manager of Overseas Motors and, as a fiery, competent woman in a male-dominated field, she modeled what it meant to lead with integrity and honesty for two very successful decades. Much of Kristen’s later life was dedicated to serving her faith community through her participation in Bible Study Fellowship (BSF), where she taught young children about the endless love of the Lord. Though she could command a room full of businessmen with a single look, she also thoroughly enjoyed the hours she spent on the floor playing with her precious two and three year-old students. In her heart of hearts, Kristen was made for such service, so much so that she became a substitute teaching leader in BSF, giving lectures and guiding other women with wisdom and wit. Her kind heart, generous spirit, and wicked sense of humor will be sorely missed by all who knew her. Summers on Cape Cod will not be the same without Kristen reading in a lawn chair or floating in her trademark pink inner tube. Her zest for life and her jubilant laughter touched many spirits. She is preceded in death by her parents Conrad and Linda Keado. She is survived by her husband Randy, and daughter, Avery; sister Elizabeth Culley (Brad); niece Kayman and nephew Chance; sister Allison Vega (Adrian) and many cherished cousins and friends. Services will be postponed until late summer or early fall pending the lifting of Coronavirus restrictions. In lieu of flowers, the family asks for donations to be made in Kristen’s honor to the North Texas Food Bank, an organization she volunteered at frequently and one which needs donations now more than ever. Please leave the family condolences and share memories on this website.
