Obituary

Eldon Henry Graaf It is with great sadness that the family of Eldon Henry Graaf, announce his passing at the age of 80 on June 12, 2020. Eldon was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Jane, who passed away in June, 2013. Eldon will be lovingly remembered by his three (3) siblings, Arlene Kruse, Janice Martin and Bob Graaf, his three (3) children, Jerry (Jennifer) Graaf, Janell (Will) Williams and John (Genevieve) Graaf, seven (7) grandchildren, Crystal Huynhcao, Jesse Graaf, Grace Graaf, Liam Williams, Logan Williams, Henry Graaf, and Clark Graaf and two (2) great-grandchildren, Madison and Makenzie Graaf. Eldon will also be forever remembered by his numerous nieces, nephews, extended family and dear friends. It will always be known that Eldon was a patient and devoted husband and father.  He worked tirelessly to provide a life for his family.  His love of the outdoors took his family on many amazing adventures, traveling and camping trips across the United States.  Eldon eventually built a vacation home on Table Rock Lake, where the family would go and friends would visit every summer to enjoy lake life and the beauty of the Ozarks. For many years, he owned and managed Graaf Construction in Pocahontas, Iowa.  In 1985, Eldon and Jane moved the family to Rogers, Arkansas, a place they visited many times while vacationing on nearby Table Rock Lake.  There, Eldon owned a small business and built a rental property business and Jane began a career at the Wal-Mart corporate offices.  Eldon was very active in his churches, regularly singing in the Choir, beginning at St. John’s Lutheran in Palmer and St. Peters in  Pocahontas, Iowa, then at Peace Lutheran and eventually Living Word in Rogers, Arkansas. Services memorializing Eldon will be held in both the Pocahontas, Iowa area and in Rogers, Arkansas. Dates to be announced in the near future.  In the interim, please see Dad’s obituary with the Funeral Home and submit a condolence including any request for contact information on the extended family.  The website for the Obituary and Condolences is https://ariacremation.com/obituary

Eldon was my friend late in his life. He was good at whatever he put his hand to. ..playing piano, building that reflected his unique and gifted interpretation. Gardening, fireworks and. Was kind and compassionate to whoever he met. He told wonderful ild stories and had a keen sense of humor. He was a great cook, and lioved to
Enjoy his trees, pkants and birds and even built a special feeder for the squirrels. He lived to sit on the porch in the evenings and greet neighbors and talk about old times. And drink green tea. He lived restaurants. Parades and fairs. He lived getting calls from all his family members and seeing them during the holidays.Eldon lived God, his family and friends. There will never be another one like him.

"Nothing prepares you for the grief you go through when losing a child. I called this funeral home at 2:00 am broken and could barely talk. The amount of compassion and empathy they showed me immediately let me know I found the right place to cremate my son. I cannot thank them enough for their professionalism, SINCERE concern, and commitment to making sure my son was honored in the most respectful way. I hope this Funeral home values her as much as my family and I do."

"I can’t say enough about how helpful and professional Dusty Martin, the funeral director at the Aria Cremation location on NW Highway has been. From my initial call, he was kind and informative. My friend died at home while on hospice and she was picked up in about an hour after receiving the call from the hospice nurse. The person who arrived to pick her up was also very professional/respectful and allowed us to take as much time with her as we wished. When I met with Dusty the next day about arrangements, he explained the process and options available without being pushy or trying to “sell” extras. Throughout the process, he kept me informed and, for example, was careful to be certain I understood the cost of the obituary I wanted and offered some options for reducing that cost if I wished. When I stopped by for another reason and started talking about some of the problems I was having with the pictures and media I hoped to use at a memorial lunch I was planning, he not only listened patiently but offered technology advice and let me use his personal media player. I have had experience arranging cremations for four others using two other local companies, and this experience with Dusty at Aria has been by far the best one I have had."

"My Daddy’s service and our family experience at Aria Northwest Highway was truly blessed. Funeral Director Dustin Martin is the kind of person that you would like to see on a more regular basis – but in his industry – you hope to not see him that often. That being said – THANK YOU DUSTIN for your unending kindness, compassion and friendship through the process. Meeting you and discussing Dallas History, Find A Grave and my Dad’s lifelong contributions to the great City of Dallas was simply wonderful! In memory of my dad James A. Dodd, Sr. – I want to personally thank you and let you know that you made everything better in that moment. Your calling to “Be There” is spot on. Aria has a one in a million guy in you! Bling Blinky of TEXAS Shout Out: God Bless You!!"
