Elsie Jean Wheeler, 87, of Irving passed away Monday (August 24, 2020) at her residence in Farmers Branch, Texas.
Visitation will be held Friday (August 28th) from 10AM-11:00AM at the Aria Funeral Home in Irving. Funeral and Burial Services will be immediately following the visitation at Oak Grove Memorial Gardens, with Pastor Doug Fox officiating.
Elsie was born on December 30, 1932 in Omega Texas to Albert and Rosa (Hoot) Holcomb. She married Rufus E. Wheeler on May 24, 1952. He preceded her in death on January 28th, 1985.
Surviving are her sons; Rufus Lynn (Angie) Wheeler of Arlington, Ronald Wheeler of Irving, David (Gayle) Wheeler of Irving, and Charles Wheeler of Farmers Branch. Two brothers, Harold (Georgia) Holcomb and Tony (Vickie) Holcomb, and several nieces and nephews. She was the proud Mimi of four: Jessica Wheeler, Jonathan (Kendra) Wheeler, Brandon Wheeler, and Emily Wheeler; and two beloved great-grandchildren, Aubree and Clinton.
Elsie is proceeded in death by her parents, loving husband Rufus, and three brothers: Tommy Holcomb, Barney Holcomb, and Beady Holcomb.
Elsie attended Gladewater Grade School and graduated from Gladewater High School. She was a homemaker and enjoyed cooking for her family. She was known for her wonderful homestyle cooking. Elsie could make an amazing homemade pie, amongst many other dishes. She enjoyed the outdoors, planting flowers, dining out, watching sports, and spending time with her family and her dogs.
She will mostly be remembered for her beautiful smile and a gracious love and southern kindness she showed to everyone that came into her life. She will be dearly missed.
Memorials may be made in her name to the Humane Society of North Texas.

I tell you how sorry I am that you are going through this loss of your momma. She always had a smile on her face and made me feel loved welcomed in yβallβs home anytime I came around. She definitely raised 4 wonderful men. She will be missed and know that I loved her dearly
