Rusten, Violet Young

Violet Y. Rusten, 85, died in Dallas, on October 10, 2020.

Born January 13, 1935 in Coffeeville, MS, she lived in Memphis, TN; Miami, FL; Buffalo, NY; Oxford, MS; and her favorite home base was Saratoga Springs, NY.  Vi worked for Southern Bell as a Service Manager, while living in Miami, and loved to tell stories about the numerous celebrities who failed to pay their bills, for example Jackie Gleason.  Once she moved to New York, she was a stay at home mother, until her children were in middle school, then she became the Welcome Wagon Hostess for Saratoga Springs.  A job she loved and excelled at, helping new comers feel at home and a part of the community.  Later in life she was a first grade assistant teacher for a number of years.  Out of all of her roles, this was the most rewarding, since she loved young children.

She was attended Gateway Church until she moved to Dallas and always enjoyed participating in Bible studies.

Survivors include daughters Beth Harper (Jann) & Beverly Palazzolo, grandchildren Alex (Rachel) Palazzolo, Brianna (Zack) Mayfield, Libby Harper and Will Harper.  Violet was preceded in death by her husband Frank Rusten.
