Beloved Aunty Polita, I’m deeply saddened to be writing this, I wish I said these words to you before the Most High reclaimed you. You were, are and always will be loved in my memories, heart and spirit. Thank you for the times we spent together, both here and in Dallas. Although earthly distance kept us apart, family remains together beyond all boundaries. Please give Aunty Mildred a hug and kiss when you meet her again, and tell her I miss her too. I love you Aunty, and will miss you. Your niece, Yasmin (Tina). “We love because He Loved us first” 1 John 4:19

I have met Polita in 2001 when I started to work with TxDOT. I really got to know her more recently when working more directly with her. Polita held a great wealth of knowledge and was always willing to help me. Her unique style and her loyalty set her apart and made her an asset to society. She will be missed, especially her great holiday spiced tea. My thoughts and prayers are with your family.

    My dear Polita,
I am shocked to hear the news. I just want you to know that you are always my good friend. I missed the times I made you laugh with my kids stories and brought you home grown tropical fruits. You are always in my heart.

I had the great pleasure of getting to know Polita when I joined the Dallas TxDOT office. Indeed her laughter was loud and warm. Her sense of the absurd in dealing with government regulations was a delight to behold. When I retired she was one my regrets that I would not have my daily input of joy at being with her. My prayers go to her family for their loss and I shall always remember her Sprit and soul. Ciao, my friend.

I met Polita as a member of the TxDOT holiday choir. Would love to hear her say “the state”. Before my retirement from the Dallas District Laboratory she had a meeting in Austin and drove my assigned vehicle. Loved to see her smile.
Family please know others care ❤ and are praying for you all.

Deepest sympathy to the family for your loss . Although I never met you I know about you as family through Polita. May she Rest In Peace

Illinois University in 1976 We were member of the international class going through orientation and a few of us just became friends. There was Bridin from Ireland, Polita from St Croix , Jonathan from Nigeria, Foo from the Cameroon, Rachel from Liberia. We became good friends checking on each other and just keeping in touch while at school. Of course after school we went our separate ways but Polita and I kept in touch. We talked periodically and it was like we saw or talked to each other daily. I remember our times on campus and it was like having a sister to relate to. Although she was younger , I learned about the US because she had attended undergraduate school here. Polita was a kind and open person. I will miss out talks and just miss knowing that she is no longer here. May. She Rest In Peace and may light perpetual shine on her.

We met almost 40 years ago while working at Dallas City Hall. We both were selected to be in the City’s premier Management Assistant Program. As MAPs we had unique experiences and travels not afforded to all. Polita went on to become the Assistant to the City Manager. Her gregarious personality and administrative skills made her invaluable to City Managers Office. Lifelong friends, we traveled at the drop of a hat and if there was a major event happening in the country we were there. Oh, I’m going to miss my travel buddy. We were at both inaugurations of Barack Obama, the 50th Anniversary of the Bloody Sunday March across the Edmund Pettus Bridge in Selma Alabama. Our most significant adventure was an 11 day cruise throughout a quarter of the world to the Panama Canal. Polita defined “content of character “. She never compromised her principles or values for anyone. That’s the type of friend you want to have in your life. She was true, trustworthy, loyal and honest not only on her deeds but in her sage opinions. She lived well and acquired everything she ever needed or wanted. She will be truly missed when I pick up the phone to call and talk with her about the issues of the day or when its time to go to the Dallas Music Hall to see a musical production or ready to roll out to a favored event somewhere across the country. Im glad we’ve had these years blessed by God. Thank you for being my friend. Mythe

The passing away of Polita Flemming is a big loss to TxDoT and to the human race as a whole.

We worked together for the same Department for six years. The sad news was very shocking to me. Nevertheless, she is now in the hands of He who knows the best. May her soul rest in perfect peace.

"Nothing prepares you for the grief you go through when losing a child. I called this funeral home at 2:00 am broken and could barely talk. The amount of compassion and empathy they showed me immediately let me know I found the right place to cremate my son. I cannot thank them enough for their professionalism, SINCERE concern, and commitment to making sure my son was honored in the most respectful way. I hope this Funeral home values her as much as my family and I do."

"I can’t say enough about how helpful and professional Dusty Martin, the funeral director at the Aria Cremation location on NW Highway has been. From my initial call, he was kind and informative. My friend died at home while on hospice and she was picked up in about an hour after receiving the call from the hospice nurse. The person who arrived to pick her up was also very professional/respectful and allowed us to take as much time with her as we wished. When I met with Dusty the next day about arrangements, he explained the process and options available without being pushy or trying to “sell” extras. Throughout the process, he kept me informed and, for example, was careful to be certain I understood the cost of the obituary I wanted and offered some options for reducing that cost if I wished. When I stopped by for another reason and started talking about some of the problems I was having with the pictures and media I hoped to use at a memorial lunch I was planning, he not only listened patiently but offered technology advice and let me use his personal media player. I have had experience arranging cremations for four others using two other local companies, and this experience with Dusty at Aria has been by far the best one I have had."

"My Daddy’s service and our family experience at Aria Northwest Highway was truly blessed. Funeral Director Dustin Martin is the kind of person that you would like to see on a more regular basis – but in his industry – you hope to not see him that often. That being said – THANK YOU DUSTIN for your unending kindness, compassion and friendship through the process. Meeting you and discussing Dallas History, Find A Grave and my Dad’s lifelong contributions to the great City of Dallas was simply wonderful! In memory of my dad James A. Dodd, Sr. – I want to personally thank you and let you know that you made everything better in that moment. Your calling to “Be There” is spot on. Aria has a one in a million guy in you! Bling Blinky of TEXAS Shout Out: God Bless You!!"
