Sweetnam, Susan Jane (Hunter)
Obituary
Susan Jane Sweetnam, passed of natural causes at the age of 81 on Thursday November 19th at her home in Anna Texas. She was born in Jacksonville, Illinois to Katharine and Harold Hunter and grew up with her siblings Katherine (Kassie), Harold (Bud) and is survived by her sister Lucy. Prior to getting married, she attended Millikin University in Decatur, Illinois. While raising her children, she worked and retired from both Wells Fargo and Wachovia banks too. She had a passion for teaching children to swim and often talked about the thousands of children she helped while volunteering for the Red Cross learn to swim program. Susan married John F Sweetnam Jr in 1959 and they were married 55 years, until John’s death in 2015. She was a devoted mother and was happiest when surrounded by her family. She lived a rich life and reveled in stories of her family experiences, travels and the deeds of her aunts. Story time was always entertaining and an experience everyone enjoyed. She is survived by her four children and spouses: Jacqueline (Rich), Robert (Yolanda), George (Jackie H) and Daniel; her fourteen grandchildren: Nate (Desiree), Calandra, Dale (Justine), Julia (Obie), Josh (Brittany), Ariana (Alex), Abby, John, Anissa, AJ, Chris, Evan, Lauren and Makayla; her four great-grandchildren: Zoey, Caleb, Tristan and Caspian. The family will hold a private gathering and in lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the American Heart Association. Please leave the family condolences and share memories on this website.
