Obituary
Janice Lanelle Tricks, age 68 of Dallas, Texas died peacefully on January 17, 2021 with family and friends by her side. Born December 24, 1952 in Hobbs, New Mexico to Ted and Lanelle Blackman, Janice was a devoted mother, grandmother, sister and friend to many. Janice had a son, Derek Slaughter in December of 1970. She spent most of her life in Texas where she lived in Austin and Dallas for the better part of the last forty years. She has lived with her husband, Jim Sanders for the last 18 years in Dallas. Janice had several jobs over the years specializing in construction and finance and ultimately retired with JP Morgan Chase in 2017. Janice was a kind, gentle soul who loved live music, the outdoors, gardening, time at the beach and spending time anywhere with her three grandchildren that she so lovingly adored. Strong, resilient, and devoted are just a few words to describe the character of this amazing woman. Janice is survived by her loving husband Jim Sanders. Son Derek (Jessica) Slaughter. Grandchildren Jacklyn, Braeden and Dawson Slaughter. Brother Larry (Bonnie) Blackman and sister Debbie Blackman. Predeceased by parents Ted and Lanelle Blackman. A Memorial Service for Janice will be held on Saturday, July 31, 2021 at 3:00pm at Custer Road United Methodist Church located at 6601 Custer Rd., Plano, TX 75023. Please leave the family condolences and share memories on this website.
