Obituary
Jerry M. McMahan, 78, of Plano, TX, passed away Saturday, January 23, 2021, at Medical City Plano. Jerry was born on September 6, 1942, in Barnes City, IA, the son of Hassal Leroy McMahan and Imogene Irene McMahan. Jerry graduated from Barnes City High School in 1960 and attended Coe College in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. He married Judith Ann Sheehy on June 16, 1962, in Springville, Iowa. Jerry worked for Collins Radio in Cedar Rapids, which was acquired by Rockwell International. He rose through the company and worked in Toronto, Ontario; Westmont, IL, and Richardson, TX at a division acquired by Alcatel. After retiring from Alcatel, Jerry served on the Collin County tax board and the Wentworth Estates Homeowners Association, and volunteered for SCORE, the Service Corps of Retired Executives. He was a mentor and friend to many people in the Collin County area. Jerry was a man with great integrity. He was an avid stamp and coin collector and he had a keen interest in learning. Jerry is survived by his wife Judy; son Sean (Janet) McMahan, of Mundelein, IL; five grandchildren, Jillian, Colin (Tiffany), Brendan, Dillon and Jackson; and brothers Robert (Gloria) McMahan of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, and Dennis (Margaret-deceased) McMahan of Woodstock, GA. He was preceded in death by his parents and his son Mark McMahan of Dallas, TX Arrangements under the direction of Aria Cremation Service and Funeral Home.
