Obituary

Carl Joseph Hallock, loving husband, father and GDaddy, went to be with our Lord and Savior on January 27, 2021 at the age of 65.  He was surrounded by his family. Carl is survived by his wife of 43 years, Janet, and by his sons Michael (Erika and their children Jake and Caroline) and Mark.   Carl was born in Memphis, Tennessee on October 16, 1955.  He gradated from East High School in 1973 and received his Bachelor’s in Business Administration from Memphis State University in 1979.  He went on to have a successful 40 year career in pharmaceutical sales.   Carl could always be found with a smile on his face.  He was one of the most outgoing, kind souls you could ever meet.  He had a passion for helping others.  He was the rare combination of someone who had a love of life and a firm understanding of what was important, the simplicity of living a life with those you love.  In the days since his passing we have received countless messages that have described all the ways in which this treasure of a man impacted the lives of others.  Carl loved BIG and we are better people for knowing him.   Physical fitness and sports were such a passion for Carl.  He helped mentor many young people in lifting weights correctly. He helped coach his son’s teams as they grew up and continued that tradition by helping coach his grandson’s Prosper Eagles 4th grade football team last fall.  He was happiest on the field or in a gym providing lessons on football, basketball and life.  He always pushed those around him to be the best they could be.   Due to the pandemic, there will be a private memorial service.   The family requests any memorial gifts be sent to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital in honor of Carl.   Memorial Slideshow Link: https://youtu.be/EZOa8n7EjqU

Carl was a great guy. He graduated with me from East High School in Memphis in 1973. His classmates have kept in touch, and we all agree that the world is a poorer place without him.

I had the privilege of knowing Carl for a very long time. I have known since we were in the 7th grade at East Jr. High. He had such a soothing personality. Everyone liked him and carried a great deal of respect for him. His calm demeanor was a model for all. It did not matter how long it had been since I saw him. Our friendship was always strong through the years. My prayers and condolences are with each and every member of his family. I will cherish the memories we shared as kids and carry his spirit always. Rest in Peace, Carl. You have earned it!

Carl was an awesome man. He was one of our favorite buddies and boss that worked with us at Adam’s Laboratories and Medeva Pharmaceuticals in the late 80’s and 90’s. Carl will be greatly missed. A wonderful person, great family man, and a respected friend. Condolences to Janet, Michael and Mark and to the rest of his family. Rest in peace Carl.

It was my immense honor and privilege to serve as Carl’s Regional Director at Johnson & Johnson. Carl was an inspiration to all of us who were fortunate enough to call him our teammate. He was a brilliantly intelligent business strategist, and the most driven and productive professional I have ever known. His proximity to the Dallas regional office provided me with the unique opportunity to routinely gain Carl’s valuable advice and insights on business, family, and living well. He was great great guy.

I met Carl in 1979 at French Riveria Spa where Carl worked. He signed me up to my first membership. In 1981 we became workout partners until 1990 when I moved to Nashville. In 1994, I learned that I was moving to the Dallas area where Carl, Janet and the kids had already moved to. Carl was very helpful and instrumental in helping us settle in Plano, TX. Carl was a great guy and friend. He offered me wonderful advice at times when I needed it but was always my friend no matter what and I loved Carl for that. I will miss you my friend and will always think of you. He was always so very helpful and never asked for anything in return. A quality of a true friend. I love you Carl Hallock.

I was saddened to hear about the loss of Carl. He was so instrumental in my son’s life and our life as a mento and friend. Brent was on the receiving end of Carl’s knowledge with the weight lifting. We so enjoyed the quarterback club and football with our boys. He and Janet are very special to our family.

I’ve known and worked with Carl around 40 years. I was saddened and shocked to learn of his passing. I have wonderful memories of Carl from work and many manager and business trips, from San Antonio, California, Las Vegas to Hawaii. He lived a good life and had a wonderful family who he loved and was so proud. My condolences to Janet and his family.
Carl, may you rest in peace.

Carl was a friend, role model and mentor to me. I worked with Carl for 10 years and I’m glad to have counted him as a friend. He’s just a good man! In almost every conversation his pride would beam through when talking about family. As Carl and I got older and would talk about our injuries, we’d always joke about how you’re always 19 in your heart until your body reminds you that you’re really (X) years old. I remember at one meeting we went to Dallas Cowboys stadium. They were letting people kick field goals. Carl drilled one right through the uprights. The next day he limped by me on the way to a session. He just looked at me and smiled. Lol. RIP my friend. Thanks for all your kindness and guidance.

I was blessed of a great friendship with Carl that began over 10 years ago working together at Sunovion Pharmaceuticals. I have never laughed with someone as much as I did with Carl. Whether I needed work or personal advice, he was usually where I would turn first. Carl’s love for his family and core values exemplified the great man he was. He touched my life in many ways and will be missed.
Continued prayers for Janet and all family.

Mr. Hallock was a wonderful, loving, caring, energetic and friendly man. In high school he was always there to motivate us and actually cared about how we were doing. I hadn’t seen Mr Hallock in over 15 years and 2 years ago we had a chance meeting when he walked into my office. He gave me a handshake and a hug. The smile on his face and his energy was the same as I had remembered in high school. I got to see him and talk with him a few more times after that day. He put a smile on face just from his presence, energy and positive attitude.
He will be missed by all who knew him and especially by his family. Our love, thoughts and prayers are with the Hallock family.

I am sorry to hear of Carl’s passing. Carl and I worked together in the pharma industry. In my 40 years in the business I have never met a better person. Carl was kind, driven to succeed, always went out of his way to help others and his smile was infectious. His customers respected him and he always distinguished himself in a positive way. I will miss you Carl but never forget you.

What a loss….. Carl gave me my first job in medicine and I owe him for giving me a chance… if you knew Carl, you knew his entire family. The reason you knew his entire family is because he never stopped talking about them. I was acutely aware of Michael’s long snap technique.. and Mark’s absurd ability to lift weights throughout school. Then you had to listen to him talk about Janet’s warmth and patience….( of course we knew this because she was married to this energy machine!) what a blessing to have known him and for his children to have had him aas a father and husband for Janet. God bless Carl and his entire family. Prayers

Carl was my first manager at Adams Laboratories. He was a tremendous teacher and I appreciated everything he did to support me. He was always positive and one of the best salespeople I have ever know. I am sitting in Mr Gs Deli in Plano,TX and thought of him. We would eat a sandwich her frequently. My condolences to Janet and his family.

"Nothing prepares you for the grief you go through when losing a child. I called this funeral home at 2:00 am broken and could barely talk. The amount of compassion and empathy they showed me immediately let me know I found the right place to cremate my son. I cannot thank them enough for their professionalism, SINCERE concern, and commitment to making sure my son was honored in the most respectful way. I hope this Funeral home values her as much as my family and I do."

"I can’t say enough about how helpful and professional Dusty Martin, the funeral director at the Aria Cremation location on NW Highway has been. From my initial call, he was kind and informative. My friend died at home while on hospice and she was picked up in about an hour after receiving the call from the hospice nurse. The person who arrived to pick her up was also very professional/respectful and allowed us to take as much time with her as we wished. When I met with Dusty the next day about arrangements, he explained the process and options available without being pushy or trying to “sell” extras. Throughout the process, he kept me informed and, for example, was careful to be certain I understood the cost of the obituary I wanted and offered some options for reducing that cost if I wished. When I stopped by for another reason and started talking about some of the problems I was having with the pictures and media I hoped to use at a memorial lunch I was planning, he not only listened patiently but offered technology advice and let me use his personal media player. I have had experience arranging cremations for four others using two other local companies, and this experience with Dusty at Aria has been by far the best one I have had."

"My Daddy’s service and our family experience at Aria Northwest Highway was truly blessed. Funeral Director Dustin Martin is the kind of person that you would like to see on a more regular basis – but in his industry – you hope to not see him that often. That being said – THANK YOU DUSTIN for your unending kindness, compassion and friendship through the process. Meeting you and discussing Dallas History, Find A Grave and my Dad’s lifelong contributions to the great City of Dallas was simply wonderful! In memory of my dad James A. Dodd, Sr. – I want to personally thank you and let you know that you made everything better in that moment. Your calling to “Be There” is spot on. Aria has a one in a million guy in you! Bling Blinky of TEXAS Shout Out: God Bless You!!"
