My favorite memory of my grandma is once when I was complaining about money because I was between jobs and was worried even about buying food. She told me how her mom cooked for 10 people every single day-8 kids plus her mom and dad. She taught me how to make 2 amazing dishes-macaroni and peas and lentils. She laughed when I asked her what “a little bit” of basil meant or “a bunch” of salt for the lentils meant. She looked at me like I was nuts for wanting precise measurements. (I’m a terrible cook.) I messed them up a lot, but ended up perfecting them. They are my two favorite things to cook now, and my own two children love them both. My oldest daughter’s face lights up when I tell her either one is what is for dinner, and the picky eater goes back for seconds. You can’t make these dishes without a lot of love, and Grandma knew that. I always thought of her when serving them to my kids, and now more than ever, I know that a part of Grandma will be there every time I make these meals from her childhood for my girls. She taught me a lot of things, but I know she loved the fact that meals from when she was a little girl and passed down from her own mom were still making the youngest members of our family happy and full.

There are so many other things, but I’m most grateful for this. I love you so much Grandma. Thank you for everything. You know what I mean, even though I can’t write it all here. I’m glad you are with your mom now. We’ll all be ok down here-you set us all up for happiness and success and did a phenominal job. I’m proud of you, and I’m so lucky you’re my Grandma, and hope one day I’ll be as good of a Grandma as you.

    Love forever and ever,
    Kristi, Kaitlyn, and Alina

I can not even begin to express how much I love you mom and how much I miss you already. There are just no words. We shared so much together. You are the best mother a daughter could ever hope for. I am so grateful that I was chosen to have a mother as wonderful as you. You endured so much in your life and never complained. You are truly an inspiration to me and all your family. I will so miss all the times we spent together even if it was just sitting, drinking coffee and talking for hours. We have had so many good times together and I will cherish every one of them. I will love and miss you forever. Your daughter, Darlene

I never met Mickey, but I have heard about her for years through my co-worker and her husband, Richard. I know she must have been a wonderful and loving person just from hearing the things that Richard has said about her over the last 30 years and from seeing his sadness during her illness. They definitely had a special bond and love. My prayers are with Richard, the children, grandchildren, and all of the family through this difficult time.

I think I was seventeen years old when I first met Micki. I was immediately drawn in and loved her from the start. I watched the open, warm and loving relationships she had with her children and it inspired me to build a stronger relationship with my own mother. I hope she knows that she deserves credit for that and for setting the bar so high. I loved watching her laugh with her family (especially at something Chris either said or did)! Micki, I will always have a special place in my heart reserved for you. You will be missed.

    Love always,
    Mindy

Grandma you had a beautiful soul to match your physical beauty. You were the strongest and bravest person I knew. You have inspired and influenced me in countless ways. Anyone that has ever met you, even if for only a moment, would say that they had a special bond with you. You had this way about you that made everyone feel special.
When my parents and I moved back to the states and I met you for the first time, I instantly fell in love with you. One of my earliest memories was when I was 3 or 4 and I had just gotten off the phone with you and turned to my parents and told them “I miss grandma, I want to see grandma”. I don’t know how my parents managed it but they got me a plane ticket and off to grandma’s house I went for the summer.
You were the glue of this family and did so much for everyone. You always gave of yourself so selflessly and never once complained. I already deeply miss you and I love you so much and always will.
    Love,
    Michelle

It would be virtually impossible for me to express verbally the influence you have had on my life and the lives of my family, Aunt Mickey. When we came to Texas you welcomed us with open arms, warmth, and love. You and Uncle Rich made us feel accepted and loved. Both of my children adored you. Your smile was always infectious, your advice always given with love and wisdom, and your ear always available to anyone who needed it. You made everyone feel special and loved. I will hold your memory close to me always. There is a void in the lives of many people because you affected so many. We love you and we will miss you, but we are so grateful you are at peace now. No one deserved peace more than you.

I know even now you are with me always. Thank you for being you and being my wonderful sister. Yoli & I will love you forever.

Mickey was a sweet lady with great inner peace and strength. I know she had some chronic medical issues, but she never let them get her down and she always had a smile on her face. God bless you Mickey, rest in peace.

"Nothing prepares you for the grief you go through when losing a child. I called this funeral home at 2:00 am broken and could barely talk. The amount of compassion and empathy they showed me immediately let me know I found the right place to cremate my son. I cannot thank them enough for their professionalism, SINCERE concern, and commitment to making sure my son was honored in the most respectful way. I hope this Funeral home values her as much as my family and I do."

"I can’t say enough about how helpful and professional Dusty Martin, the funeral director at the Aria Cremation location on NW Highway has been. From my initial call, he was kind and informative. My friend died at home while on hospice and she was picked up in about an hour after receiving the call from the hospice nurse. The person who arrived to pick her up was also very professional/respectful and allowed us to take as much time with her as we wished. When I met with Dusty the next day about arrangements, he explained the process and options available without being pushy or trying to “sell” extras. Throughout the process, he kept me informed and, for example, was careful to be certain I understood the cost of the obituary I wanted and offered some options for reducing that cost if I wished. When I stopped by for another reason and started talking about some of the problems I was having with the pictures and media I hoped to use at a memorial lunch I was planning, he not only listened patiently but offered technology advice and let me use his personal media player. I have had experience arranging cremations for four others using two other local companies, and this experience with Dusty at Aria has been by far the best one I have had."

"My Daddy’s service and our family experience at Aria Northwest Highway was truly blessed. Funeral Director Dustin Martin is the kind of person that you would like to see on a more regular basis – but in his industry – you hope to not see him that often. That being said – THANK YOU DUSTIN for your unending kindness, compassion and friendship through the process. Meeting you and discussing Dallas History, Find A Grave and my Dad’s lifelong contributions to the great City of Dallas was simply wonderful! In memory of my dad James A. Dodd, Sr. – I want to personally thank you and let you know that you made everything better in that moment. Your calling to “Be There” is spot on. Aria has a one in a million guy in you! Bling Blinky of TEXAS Shout Out: God Bless You!!"
