Holland, James Earnest
Obituary
James Earnest Holland, age 75, died peacefully on May 13, 2021. In his last days, James was able to return from the hospital to his assisted living facility, where he lived for many years, and enjoy the company of friends and family. James was born at home on December 25, 1945, in Silsbee, TX. After graduating from Bible Baptist Seminary in Arlington, TX, with a Bachelor of Divinity, he moved to Ft. Stockton, TX, where he served as pastor of Faith Baptist Church. He later moved to Grand Prairie, TX, where he worked at a Fresenius Kidney Care distribution facility. After retiring, he served as a chaplain at Dallas-Ft. Worth Airport until he moved to an assisted living facility in Richardson, TX. He continued his chaplain work at his assisted living facility, leading Sunday services and officiating memorial services. James was known to all as a kind and caring man. He loved meeting new people and he never met a stranger. He was an avid reader and enjoyed studying history and religion. James was also a long-time baseball fan and he loved his Texas Rangers. In his later days, he enjoyed playing cards, bingo, and dominoes with his friends. Survivors include son, Michael Holland; daughter-in-law, Corbin Meacham; grandchildren, Graham and Ariel Holland; sister, Carrie Evans and brother-in-law Donnie Evans; sister, Nancy Gibson and brother-in-law Jimmy Gibson; brother, Pete Holland and sister-in-law Betty Holland; and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews. James was preceded in death by his parents, Earnest and Carrie Holland, and his twin brother Jimmy Wylie Holland, who died at birth. At his request, his remains will be cremated. A virtual memorial service will be held on Tuesday, May 25, at 7:00pm Central time. For information about how to participate in this service, contact his son, siblings, or Dr. Mike Evans of New Testament Baptist Church of Pantego, TX. Family members will gather later this summer to celebrate his life in person. In lieu of donations or flowers, the family invites donations to the American Heart Association in memory of James Holland. Please leave the family condolences and share memories on this website.
