I only met Dorothy a few short years ago. Very quickly I realized what a strong and gracious lady she was. My life has been enriched since meeting her.
I first met Dorothy in 1970 when I changed schools and met her son Len. I probably saw Dorothy more often than my own mother (I am one of nine children!) and as long as I lived in Dallas or visited there when I lived abroad. She was more than just a second mother to me. A great friend, a wonderful mother to Len and all the girls, fabulous cook, wise woman, not to mention countless animals she raised, rescued, and nurtured her whole life. She will be greatly missed by family and friends.
