Folks, Vicki

September 23, 1938 - August 13, 2021

Vicki Faye Folks, 82, of Mesquite, Texas, lovingly known as “Mom” or “Mama,” died Friday, August 13, 2021 at Arbor Hills Memory Care in Plano, Texas.  She was born September 23, 1938 in Corsicana, Texas to James Clark and Lucille Evelyn Jernigan.  She was preceded in death by her parents.  Vicki is survived by her husband of 65 years James W. Folks, son Victor Folks (Shelly) of Sunnyvale, Texas, daughter Laci Ryan (Michael) of Plano, Texas, grandchildren Tanner Ryan (Kelsie) of Dallas, Bayli Wittenberg (Tim) of Frisco and Pierce Ryan (Emily) of Richardson; two great granddaughters Ryan Jayne and Kayci Claire, and great grandson due in February; as well as extended family.  Vicki’s entire life was given as a servant and perfect helpmate to her husband, children, grandchildren, friends and her home.  That was her profession, her job —she was the perfect reflection of God’s love.  Vicki loved her weekly coffee with her girlfriends and Friday Night El Fenix friends.  She taught preschool for many years and was a MISD volunteer with what is now known as the Read Play Talk program.   There is a quote from a book titled “The Unfinished”:   “We cannot judge a song by its duration nor by the number of its notes.  We must judge it by the way it touches and lifts our souls.  Sometimes those unfinished are among the most beautiful.  And when something has enriched your life, and when its melody lingers on in your heart – Is it unfinished?  Or is it endless?”  Vicki, you are not yet finished, you are endless.  Our family would like to extend our appreciation to VNA Hospice, Arbor Hills Memory Care, and Friends Place Richardson for their care the last several years.  There will be a Celebration of Life at 2:30pm, on Wednesday, September 29, 2021 at St. Marks United Methodist Church, 3117 Motley Drive, Mesquite, Texas. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to St. Marks United Methodist Church.

Please leave the family condolences and share memories on this website.

Remembering our sweet neighbor today as we mourn her loss. I remember those Halloween nights when Vicki would sit out in her lawn chair and hand out popcorn balls. The best treat on the street! James wasn’t far ready to jump out and scare us. I’ll love those memories of our sweet neighbor forever. Your memory will live on forever. Our sincerest condolences to the family

Excellent customer service, they made you feel like you were their only customer. Very helpful and explained what we should expect during the process. They basically took care of our needs during this time. They contacted DFW National Cemetery for us which made it a smooth experience. Definitely will use them again.
