Obituary
v “Rudy” was born Easter Sunday, April 4, 1920, on 12th St in NYC to Rudolph and Anna (Vrbinar) Rudinsky. Rudy is survived by his wife of 67 years, Carol (Nealy), daughters Marjorie (partner Darcy) and Barbara (husband Joseph), nieces Clarissa and Debra, grandchildren Lana (husband Bernardo) and Samantha, nephew Senior Airman Michael Rosio, and a great granddaughter Alexa. He was preceded in death by his brother Edward, and his sons Paul and Thomas. Rudy fought in WWII in the European theater with the 45th Infantry Div. (“Thunderbirds”) in eight major campaigns (511 combat days): Sicily, Salerno, Anzio, Rome-Arno, Southern France, Rhineland, Ardennes-Alsace, and Central Europe. Rudy received a Purple Heart and Bronze Star with “V” device. Rudy also served as a fireman with the NYFD and worked for the US Postal Service. He retired from the Army Reserves as a Lieutenant Colonel. Rudy & Co. lived in Levittown, LI for 53 years, then moved to Plano, TX to be with family. He enjoyed cigars, books, crosswords and Django Reinhardt. Rudy’s presence in our lives will be greatly missed. Burial in Green-Wood Cemetery in Brooklyn, NY: planned the week of August 19, 2013. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to the 45th Infantry Division Association, 2145 N.E. 36th St, Oklahoma City, OK 73111.
