Obituary

Harold Eugene Trissell, born October 21,1939, loving Father, Husband, Grandfather, Great-grandfather, kind soul, chili-cook, master garage sale-er and jokester went to be with the Lord on Saturday, October 30,2021. Gene was a gift to this world for 82 years and 9 days.  He is survived by many family members:  Nancy Richardson Trissell, wife of 32 years.  Gene was Father to Dede Trissell Cox, Eddie Trissell and bonus Father to Nancy’s children Sherree Nichols, Scott Nichols and wife Dena Nichols. Gene was blessed with a bunch of beautiful Grandchildren and Great-Grandchildren.   Grandson Robbie Trissell and wife Timber – children Braden and Paycin, Grandson Curtis -children Payton and Riley, Grandson Clint Hoffman, Granddaughter Callie Hoffman-Tice and husband Richard -children Trinity and Xander, Granddaughter Brianna Nichols Foulkrod and husband Andrew– children Cadence, Carson and Colton, Granddaughter Deyvn Nichols, Granddaughter Victoria Nichols

Gene was known to all as a kind and funny gentleman.  He grew up in Reydon, Oklahoma. He hired on at Airtrans/DFW Airport in the 70’s, which is what brought him to Grapevine, TX.  He loved his family, camping, animals and getting to Grapevine Lake as often as possible.  Gene and Nancy met in 1986 and married soon after, they created many fun memories with their extended chili-cooking family, enjoyed garage sales, junking, and antiquing, and loved their small cowboy church in Grapevine.

Daughter, Dede Trissell Cox: Dad loved going to the lake and camping. He loved his house boat. He loved to slalom ski. He was very athletic and stayed in shape with his job.  A work accident at DFW broke his neck and back and it changed his life. He was only married to Nancy two months when he had his accident. He loved his family and always asked about each one. He loved being around his kids, grandkids, and great grandkids. He had an appreciation for life and as the years passed he mellowed and became more sensitive and loving towards his family.

Son, Eddie Trissel:  I was always amazed at the love Dad had for animals. He could get squirrels to eat out of his hands and eventually get the whole squirrel family to come to him. He would feed raccoons and stray cats too. He loved his weenie dogs, Oscar, Sally May, and Rover.

Granddaughter, Callie Tice: October 31, 1986 they met at a Halloween party. He was dressed as a Cowboy and she as a “Freudian Slip.” (funny Grandma) When we were invited to meet Gene for the first time, we were asked to call Grandma, Aunt Nancy instead . Gene got a good laugh at that and loved to refer to Grandma as “Aunt Nancy!” He was a jokester – missing part of a finger is endless ammunition for jokes. He was always pleasant to be around, super patient, loved all dogs and wore the same cute Santa Bolo tie every year for Christmas. RIP “Mr. Gene!” You will be missed.

Granddaughter: Brianna Nichols Foulkrod:  The world lost another wonderful man today. My “Mr. Gene,” my grandma Nancy’s love of 30+ years gained his wings today. He was a jokester and one of the kindest people I’ve ever known. He always smelled like cologne and sweet tobacco, always made jokes about his missing half finger (he really used to scare me about losing my own!), and had the best laugh. We will miss you and we love you, Gene Trissell.

I have lost a friend and brother in Christ. Gene was a man of Grit, not many of those left. Will see him again in Heaven. He and Nancy are loved by many. We offer comfort to her knowing God will sustain her.

It was Randy’s & my honor to have shared precious little time with Gene, but we recognized him to be someone to bring light-heartedness & true caring to us at every meeting and thus endearing himself to us immediately.
We are grateful to know there is coming a glad reunion day inwhich we will be able to share in the multitude of his life’s stories we have missed hearing on this side.
Our prayers for the Father to comfort Gene’s family.

"Nothing prepares you for the grief you go through when losing a child. I called this funeral home at 2:00 am broken and could barely talk. The amount of compassion and empathy they showed me immediately let me know I found the right place to cremate my son. I cannot thank them enough for their professionalism, SINCERE concern, and commitment to making sure my son was honored in the most respectful way. I hope this Funeral home values her as much as my family and I do."

"I can’t say enough about how helpful and professional Dusty Martin, the funeral director at the Aria Cremation location on NW Highway has been. From my initial call, he was kind and informative. My friend died at home while on hospice and she was picked up in about an hour after receiving the call from the hospice nurse. The person who arrived to pick her up was also very professional/respectful and allowed us to take as much time with her as we wished. When I met with Dusty the next day about arrangements, he explained the process and options available without being pushy or trying to “sell” extras. Throughout the process, he kept me informed and, for example, was careful to be certain I understood the cost of the obituary I wanted and offered some options for reducing that cost if I wished. When I stopped by for another reason and started talking about some of the problems I was having with the pictures and media I hoped to use at a memorial lunch I was planning, he not only listened patiently but offered technology advice and let me use his personal media player. I have had experience arranging cremations for four others using two other local companies, and this experience with Dusty at Aria has been by far the best one I have had."

"My Daddy’s service and our family experience at Aria Northwest Highway was truly blessed. Funeral Director Dustin Martin is the kind of person that you would like to see on a more regular basis – but in his industry – you hope to not see him that often. That being said – THANK YOU DUSTIN for your unending kindness, compassion and friendship through the process. Meeting you and discussing Dallas History, Find A Grave and my Dad’s lifelong contributions to the great City of Dallas was simply wonderful! In memory of my dad James A. Dodd, Sr. – I want to personally thank you and let you know that you made everything better in that moment. Your calling to “Be There” is spot on. Aria has a one in a million guy in you! Bling Blinky of TEXAS Shout Out: God Bless You!!"
