Rubin, Camilla D.
Obituary
I selected this picture of my mother, Camilla Pruitt Rubin, taken by my father, Victor Rubin, when they were both young, very much in love, with their entire lives ahead of them. this is how I remember my mother and hope others do also. My mother was a rarity for her times, an educated professional woman. Camilla followed the footsteps of her own mother, Rosabelle Pruitt, and had a long career as a school teacher. She taught second grade in Lone Grove, Oklahoma for nine years before coming to Texas. She then taught first grade at Casa View, a D.I.S.D. school for 29 years. She provided a quality education for each student and was often remembered fondly by past students. In her retirement, Camilla’s greatest joy was her three grandsons, Patrick Cary Murray, Andrew Reuben Murray and Timothy John Murray. She was much loved and will be greatly missed. I also want to thank her twin nephews, Clinton Risner and Thomas Risner, both of whom were a great comfort and support for Camilla, especially in her declining years. She is survived by her loving daughter Marsh Rubin Murray, Three grandsons, and numerous nieces and nephews. “To teach is to touch the future” Donations may be made to Vogel Alcove which provides a safe nurturing preschool experience for children of the homeless.

You truly were the sweetest and most loving grandmother my brothers and I could have ever hoped for. We were really lucky in having you involved in our lives on the level you were. A strong woman with an even bigger and stronger heart. Everlasting memories of you shall remain. Thank you for everything Nana. We will always love you.
When we were growing up Aunt Camilla was our only nearby relative and we spent lots of time with her and Vic. I remember they had a dog named YumYum and Vic could make him speak like a person. She and my mother used to talk on the phone for hours. She was a huge part of my childhood and I will always remember her fondly.

My dearest Aunt Mill,
It has been one week today since your transition and I was fortunate to be with you last week.
I will always have fond memories of you, Vic Yum Yum and your life on Thale Drive and Milhoff Drive. It was such a joy to visit you and to share your love which was an exact expression of your mother’s.
I will also be supportive of Marsha’s well being and she will never be alone.
My everlasting love to you,
Thomas
Camilla was an expert, no nonsense and practical grade school teacher who started students out in their educational studies on the right foot.
Today, there are very few teachers, if any, who are comparable to Camilla.
Marsha, your Mother had much to proud of. You are her living monument. She must have been a wonderful lady. May she rest in Peace.
Blessings as you walk through this time. I loved reading all the beautiful tributes to her love of family and her amazing abilities as a teacher and one who changed lives. Let me know if we can be of assistance in any way.
My memories of My Grandmother Rosella and her two sisters Camilla and Cozett visiting on “B” in Ardmore seems not that long ago. Three Sisters, different in their right and so alike. It certainly left an impression of family love that continues, among the next generation. Three great Pruitt women – gone but never forgotten. Love to all!
The members of Eta Zeta Chapter, Delta Kappa Gamma Society International were saddened by the news of the death of our member Camilla Rubin. We will keep her family in our thoughts and prayers.
Ms. Rubin was my 1st grade teacher at Casa View Elementary in 1966. A sweet lady I remember fondly. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
