Blackbird, Patsy J.

September 15, 1929 - October 13, 2013

The very best Mom ever, Patsy Jo Blackbird, 84, passed away on October 13, 2013 peaceably with family at her side.  With a recent series of health setbacks, she was happy about making the transition from this world.

Patsy was born in Forney, Texas in 1929 to Sam and Franc Blowers. She was raised in Seagoville along with her sisters Betty Sides and Peggy Badgley. She graduated from high school at the young age of 15, attended Texas Women’s University, and went on to receive her bachelor’s degree from Texas Tech University.  She met her husband David Blackbird at school. They were married for 33 years and raised four children.  Patsy loved to garden, read, and was a master bridge player. She volunteered for many organizations including Habitat for Humanity and The Humane Society. Patsy was a successful real estate agent in Virginia and Texas. She truly enjoyed helping folks find their “home.”  She lived most of the last 30 years in Tyler on Horseshoe Club Lake, enjoying the water, fish, birds and squirrels daily. She is survived by her daughter Franc Blackbird, son Joe Blackbird, daughter Martha Blackbird and grandsons Jeremy Blackbird and TJ Blackbird, as well as niece Trisha Anderson, nephew Paul Sides and niece Tina Blackbird.  She was preceded in death by her son Sam Blackbird.

She will be remembered with deep love every day by her family.  Offerings would be appreciated in her name to Habitat for Humanity.

Our condolences to the Blackbird family. Because of my dear friendship with Martha, I was able to enjoy some great times with Patsy & family. Always a pleasure. It was good to see photos of you all together in one place in celebration of your mom’s life & spirit and for support to each other during her crossing. She was really quite a lady and her attributes have touched you all.

Excellent customer service, they made you feel like you were their only customer. Very helpful and explained what we should expect during the process. They basically took care of our needs during this time. They contacted DFW National Cemetery for us which made it a smooth experience. Definitely will use them again.
