Obituary
Mary Lou Garrett Hopkins, 81, loving wife and mother, passed away peacefully Sunday, January 12th, at Methodist Central Hospital, surrounded by her family and loved ones. She is survived by husband, Davis Hopkins of Grand Prairie, son, Ronald Hopkins of Redondo Beach, CA, brother and sister-in-law, Coy and Tanis Garrett of Colleyville, and son-in-law Terry Williams of Grand Prairie. Mary Lou was born February 7th, 1932, in San Angelo Texas to Coy and Annie Mikeska Garrett. She graduated from Paint Rock High School in 1949 and received an Associate Arts degree from Angelo State College in 1951. She married Davis Hopkins of Richland Springs, Texas on December 8th, 1951 and they resided together in Grand Prairie for 62 years where they raised two children, Ronnie and Dee Ann Williams. She loved spending time with family and friends and was active in the Eastern Star, serving as Worthy Matron. She volunteered at the Scottish Rite Children’s Hospital, was a member of West Fork Presbyterian Church and was active in the Grand Prairie Woman’s Club. Mary Lou was an avid researcher in the field of genealogy and a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution and the Jamestown Chapter, Colonial Dames. She was preceeded in death by her parents and daughter Dee Ann Williams. Mary Lou was loved by all who knew her and she will be greatly missed. Arrangements are pending. In lieu of flowers the family requests that memorials be made to the Texas Scottish Rite Hospital for Children, 2222 Welborn Street, Dallas, Texas 75219 .
