Snuggs, Grace del Carmen
Obituary
Our beloved Grace passed away peacefully Monday morning, February 3, 2014 after a long journey with cancer. She was surrounded by family and friends. Holy Rosary and Visitation will be held on Friday, February 7, 2014 from 6:00-8:00 P.M., at ARIA Memorial Chapel. The funeral Mass will be held at 12:00 Noon at All Saints Catholic Church located at 5231 Meadowcreek Drive, Dallas, Texas 75248. Reception to follow. In lieu of flowers, please consider current and/or future gifts to: The RISE School of Dallas, 5923 Royal Lane, Dallas, Texas 75230 in memory of Grace Snuggs. This non-profit organization was very important to Grace. Dr. Snuggs was employed as an Assistant Professor with Baylor College of Dentistry in Dallas since January 2006. She enjoyed sharing her knowledge with dental students in clinical settings in the Restorative Sciences department. She also served as the Faculty Advisor for the Hispanic Student Dental Association for many years. Dr. Snuggs was also the advisor at the Oral Health department to teach the dental students the importance of communication with children with special needs. She was proud to contribute professionally for the United States of America by providing on-base pre-deployment dental screenings for military units heading to Iraq and Afghanistan, both in Mississippi and in Texas. Grace came to the United States to learn English and for post-doctoral studies in May 1999. For anyone to learn a second language in adulthood is impressive! She learned English and was immersed in the culture of the United States in the Washington DC / northern Virginia area. She then moved to Jackson, Mississippi for a dental residency at University of Mississippi Medical Center. Jeff and Grace met in Jackson in 2004 and were married with a civil wedding in Mississippi in 2005 and a church wedding in Panama in 2006.
