Axtell, James "Jim" E.
Obituary
James Edwin Axtell “Poppa” Jim was a kind loving person who gave everything to everyone and was always there when you asked for help. He was a US Navy vet who served during the Vietnam War. After his Honorable Discharge, he went to trade school where he became a draftsman and also met his wife of 38 years, Vicki, who he dearly loved. After school and their marriage, he worked in Denver including with the United States Geographical Survey. Jim loved being outdoors with Vicki. He loved camping, fishing and traveling throughout the Rockies. He also loved his Christian faith, cards, country music, Zane Gray western novels and especially puzzles. He was kind and had an infectious laugh! He is survived by his daughter, sons, brother, sisters, nieces, nephews, cousins, grandchildren, great grandchildren, in-laws, “out-laws” and dear friends. We love you Poppa and you will be missed! Thanks to everyone, friends, family and members of the Prairie Creek Baptist Church, for your kindness and prayers. A memorial will be held for Jim this summer 2014 at Fort Logan National Cemetery, where he will be interned as will his sweet wife Vicki, who will rest alongside him. My Uncle Jim: always young at heart and love to laugh. Enjoyed playing out doors game with us kids. playing softball with his poor legs and feet. I remember the many hours I spent talking to him while he recovered from his fall. I enjoyed caring for his horse Zee Diane my first true love. I loved his wife and her children which became his kids and our cousins. It was his greatest treasure on this earth. My heart will remember all the love you gave. My heart is heavy with the loss of my dearest brother Jim. His angelic presence here on Earth was felt by everyone who knew Him. As the Angels rejoice with his arrival in Heaven, may we reflect on what he brought to each of our lives and the love he made us feel. Our lives will never be the same without him, but they will definitely be better because of him and the time we had to share with him. You had many accomplishments in life. Our togetherness will never fade, as our memories take on a new dimension. Good bye for now, until we meet again sweet brother!!
