Withrow, Lucille
Obituary
Where do I begin? I have been so blessed over my many years to have had such wonderful friends, fun family memories and good health. As many of you may know, in my early twenties, fresh off the family farm in Kentucky, I fell madly in love with my husband of 44 years, John Withrow. We married after a short three-month courtship and headed for Springfield, Missouri. This great city was where we had our two daughters, Shirley and Sheryl. Shirley is now married to Jeff Brandt and they live in Albuquerque, NM and Sheryl is married to Gary Pickle and they live in Euless, Texas. Sheryl gave me my only grandson, Justin Drury, and he and his wife Tami live in Florida. They blessed me with one great-grandson Devin who is 5 years old and all smiles. During my ‘professional’ career I worked as a secretary in insurance on the Plaza in Kansas City for many years. Then I made the leap into the real estate market and became a Realtor for about 15 years. This became a great family of many friends for me. Great ladies such as Pat Tice, also became our card friends, that seemed to have lasted for a life time. We had poker and bridge parties almost every weekend at one house or another. Neighbors were included in this circle of friends such as Bernie and Bob McCarthy, Dorothy and Stan Pruitt, Bill and Shirley Hawkins, Mariam and Joe – boy the list could go on and on. I spent these past 10 years in Texas. It was in 2004 that I left my home in Prairie Village after 52 years to be near my daughter Sheryl. Figured it was time I took advantage of a little ‘care giving’ from her, besides I was tired of the cold Kansas winters! Had a wonderful time in Texas, met more great friends that were just as good at bridge as any I had ever played with, Annabel, Desi and Dee. I would have to say that the vacation trips and cruises to Hawaii were some of the best memories. God has really made some magnificent places, hasn’t he? Trust me, I will now have the time to enjoy all the rest. Well, that was probably the fastest trip I have ever been on, the past 90 years. Time really goes fast when you are having fun. Remember to enjoy each day and most of all your family. Take in all that God has to give and enjoy the ride. Remember to send the family condolences and sign the guest book on this site.
