Ron and I served together in the Army. We were both stationed at Ft. Belvoir VA and we worked on the very stressful ward 5B at DeWitt Army Hospital. It was on night shift together that we formed a life long friendship. Ron and I went on long road trips and played many practical jokes on our coworkers on ward 5B as well as the dragon lady head nurse. At the end of my tour I left the Army and moved Alaska where I renewed my teaching career. Twenty-five years later I am preparing to retire from teaching. I had hoped to reconnect with my ole Amigo and share some of the wonders of Alaska with him. It is with great sadness and with a heavy heart that I learned of Ron’s passing. Ron Soignier was one of the finest men I’ve ever known, he was like a brother to me! I sure that he lived a full and fruitful life. I deeply regret that I could not bring Ron up to Alaska and the thought of his passing is almost more than I can bear! I wish his family members all the best and will keep them and my great good friend Ron Soignier in my thought…
