Marlene K. Buffington, 57, beloved wife, mother, daughter, sister and friend, died peacefully and gently in her home on Wednesday, April 2, 2014, after a brave battle with lung cancer. She was born on November 1, 1956, in Denver City, Texas. She is survived by her husband, John Furlong, of Lewisville, Texas; her mother, Betty Stevens, and stepfather, Frant, of Sanger, Texas; her daughter, Erica Buffington, of Mooresville, North Carolina; her sister, Janet Harvey, and husband Ron, of Denton, Texas; her brother, Darrell Stevens, and wife, Cathy Bernoski, of Farmers Branch, Texas; her niece, Morgan Neely, and husband, Michael, of Denton, Texas; her niece, Erin Clarke, and husband, Christopher, of Denton, Texas; her niece, Ashlyn Stevens, of Farmers Branch, Texas; her niece, Mallory Stevens, of Krum, Texas; one great nephew and two great nieces. Marlene was a long time resident of Lewisville, Texas, where she lived for nearly 30 years. She worked as an accountant in Dallas, Texas, for many years. When she retired, she became a small business owner and ran an online company that catered to the miniatures community for 10+ years. She enjoyed traveling around the world, spending time outdoors, and working with miniature art and dolls houses. Please celebrate her life at a memorial service Friday, April 11, 2014, 2:00 pm, Aria Memorial Chapel, 9310 Preston Road, Dallas, Texas 75252, 214-306-6700. Honorary contributions may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
