Obituary

Rebecca Denise McGuire Cox Nye, born in Dallas, TX on 11/16/63, passed peacefully from this life surrounded by her family & friends on 4/11/14. Rebecca known by her family & friends as Becca, Ms. Becky or Bek was known by many and never met a stranger, she always found someone she knew anywhere she went! Becca loved to talk and be with her family and friends no matter the occasion.  Her friends were numerous and came from all aspects of her life. Bek’s passions were many:  reading, music, rescuing stray animals or opening her home to any teenager who needed guidance and a roof over their head. Rebecca’s primary passion in life was her family, her husband Rick whom she married on 8/12/88 and raising their three children: Lexington “Lexi” (24), Mikaela (19) and Durance “Bubba” (16).  Being a wife & mom gave her many rewarding experiences such as helping Rick run his own business and helping all 3 children with their many sporting events. Ms. Becky was the mom always out working the concessions stands at the games even when it was 100+ degrees outside. Rebecca graduated high school from Newman Smith in Carrollton, TX, class of 82. In addition to her immediate family she is survived by her mother, Sheila Cox; Rick’s parent’s, Larry & Betty; her father, Frank McGuire and her half siblings:  Misty, Chuck, Mickey and Sherry. Rebecca was preceded in death by her beloved grandmother, Mary “Ga/Gar” Mayer. In lieu of flowers, family asks that donations be made to Irving’s Humane Society or Brighter Tomorrows in Irving, TX.  A mass to celebrate  Rebecca’s life will be celebrated at Holy Family Nazareth Church in Irving, Texas on Wednesday, April 16, 2014 at 10:00 am.

Becky, although you haven’t been gone it already seems like forever. You are my big sister and I know we didn’t see each a lot but when we did we picked up right where we left off. Yes as Lexi said you love to talk and never met a stranger, we are so much more alike than we ever thought. I promise you I will stay in the kids lives forever. I guess you can keep my mom and granny company I am sure y’all have a lot to talk bout. Love. the Baby Sister Sherry

One of the most memorable things I remember about you is one day me and my mom we ran out of gas and you were busy stuck with the kid’s dentist appointments and you dropped everything and cancel those appointments to bring me my mom gas and I will never forget that that just showed me how much of a great God Mom you were in a great friend to my mother I miss you every single day and it seems like it never gets easier which I don’t think it will because having you not here still shakes my soul I don’t know why God wanted you so early but you must have had a really good plan I think of you and look up in the sky and just get teary-eyed but then I know you wouldn’t want me to cry but it’s so hard because you were such a great woman truly a great woman I’ve never met anybody like you and never will I cannot wait to be reunited with you in heaven please keep watching over me and my mom we miss and love you so much BeccaFlex

"If I could give 6 stars I would. Aria made a difficult easier to deal with by basically taking care of everything in an efficient but very empathetic manner. I can speak highly enough of Dusty Martin, who helped us with all of the planning and logistics. He was incredibly understanding and helpful."

"Nothing prepares you for the grief you go through when losing a child. I called this funeral home at 2:00 am broken and could barely talk. The amount of compassion and empathy they showed me immediately let me know I found the right place to cremate my son. I cannot thank them enough for their professionalism, SINCERE concern, and commitment to making sure my son was honored in the most respectful way. I hope this Funeral home values her as much as my family and I do."

"I can’t say enough about how helpful and professional Dusty Martin, the funeral director at the Aria Cremation location on NW Highway has been. From my initial call, he was kind and informative. My friend died at home while on hospice and she was picked up in about an hour after receiving the call from the hospice nurse. The person who arrived to pick her up was also very professional/respectful and allowed us to take as much time with her as we wished. When I met with Dusty the next day about arrangements, he explained the process and options available without being pushy or trying to “sell” extras. Throughout the process, he kept me informed and, for example, was careful to be certain I understood the cost of the obituary I wanted and offered some options for reducing that cost if I wished. When I stopped by for another reason and started talking about some of the problems I was having with the pictures and media I hoped to use at a memorial lunch I was planning, he not only listened patiently but offered technology advice and let me use his personal media player. I have had experience arranging cremations for four others using two other local companies, and this experience with Dusty at Aria has been by far the best one I have had."

"My Daddy’s service and our family experience at Aria Northwest Highway was truly blessed. Funeral Director Dustin Martin is the kind of person that you would like to see on a more regular basis – but in his industry – you hope to not see him that often. That being said – THANK YOU DUSTIN for your unending kindness, compassion and friendship through the process. Meeting you and discussing Dallas History, Find A Grave and my Dad’s lifelong contributions to the great City of Dallas was simply wonderful! In memory of my dad James A. Dodd, Sr. – I want to personally thank you and let you know that you made everything better in that moment. Your calling to “Be There” is spot on. Aria has a one in a million guy in you! Bling Blinky of TEXAS Shout Out: God Bless You!!"
