Obituary
Joyce Agnes Flaherty Herter, age 78, of Frisco, TX passed away peacefully on Monday, April 28, 2014. She was born in Springfield, MA on March 1, 1936 to Agnes Gilligan and Thomas Flaherty, Sr. Her childhood was spent Suffield, CT and surrounding areas with her brother, Thomas Flaherty, Jr. She graduated in 1957 with a Bachelor of Science degree in History and Political Science from the University of Saint Joseph College in West Hartford, CT. Upon graduation, she worked for Traveler’s Insurance where she met and married James Leonard Herter. Once married, they moved to Omaha, NE and had their first child, Timothy Lee. They relocated to Dallas in 1967 and their second son, Patrick was born in 1969. In 1970, their daughter, Shannon was born. She was an active member of St. Thomas Aquinas Church and School where her children attended. She had a fiery Irish Spirit and lived as a model of kindness to all. She will be missed by all and remembered for a passion for reading, having lively conversations, being with her friends and Notre Dame Football. Joyce was a caring daughter, sister, wife, mother, and grandmother. Her memory will be cherished by her children: Timothy Herter, Patrick and wife, Chanda Herter; and daughter, Shannon Craft, grandchildren: Dalton Craft and Samantha Herter, and her brother, Thomas Flaherty. A memorial service will be held Wednesday, May 7th, 2014 at St. Francis of Assisi Church in Frisco 10:30 a.m. In lieu of flowers, send donations to the University of Saint Joseph College in West Hartford, CT. I will so miss Joy. We had so many good times together when our kids were growing up. Thanksgiving and Easter. Parties just so many fond memories. Girl lunches together. So many good times for 38 years. Rest in Peace dear friend
